Re: Uhmm pls help
Water in his nostrils (cause he is in a bath)... stuck shed... or a respirtory infection.
If water in his nostrils... get him out of the tub.
If stuck shed then he'll shake it by his next shed.
If a respiratory infection then he will need to see a vet ASAP.

Re: Uhmm pls help
Was he weezing before the bath? And how come you had him in the bath did he have a bad shed? Letting them climb through a wet beach towel is good for that and safer for the snake.
Keep an eye on him and make sure his temps are correct. If he is still weezing get him to a vet.

Re: Uhmm pls help
Respiratory infections need to be treated to be cleared up, they are contagious and are progressive.
If he has been wheezing for awhile now, then you need to get him into a vet. Untreated it can compromise his system long-term.
i did hear him weez i few times before i gave him the bath within this week but i thought he would need a bath cuz i got him like a week ago and hes a lil rough so i given him a bath so help him some and i think what i did hear when he was in the water was cuz of the water but he does weez a lil now and then
If you are new to snakes, then it may be worth taking him in for a visit to be sure... even if you treat it at home, then you can hide the symptons but the infection will continue to progress.

ok well yea im sortof new but i kno alot about them everyday i still look up stuff about them so i kno almost every thing to kno about them but ima post a pick of his belly and if u ask me it looks pink which means sheding will come?
From your pics, I'd say that snake is due to shed anytime. He looks---for lack of a better term---wrinkly :D
All of my guys seem to start whistling just a bit a few days before they're due to shed. I'd let him slough his skin and then take him to the vet if the whistling continues. But that's my .02

What kind of heating are you using and where is it placed in the enclosure? If it belly heat what i do right before they shed is pour 1/4 cup of water right on the heater and it raises the humidity for about a week. And they shed perfectly. I use shredded aspen so it only holds the extra moisture for a week and by the time he is done shedding the cage is back to normal opperations.
Unless it is super durty or dehydrated there is no reason to give a ball python a bath.

Re: Uhmm pls help
yea i use a UTH and a heat lamp red light so all his temps i kno r good i even got the moss in there and i poor a lil water in there every like 2 days so it stays wet and it keeps his humidity good and i got a 50 gal tank
First thing, those analog therms are almost never correct. You need to get something digital, an AccuRite from wal-mart/home depot would be best, only 12 bucks here and it has a probe. That way you can measure temps correctly and you might even discover you don't need the lamp.

Re: Uhmm pls help
Both of your hides you are using are not adequate. Get some tight fitting "rock cave" type hides. Cardboard will get soiled and the half logs provide no security whatsoever.
Do you pour water into the substrate? Aspen has a tendency to quickly mold.

Re: Uhmm pls help
You must be controlling the UTH with something or you could burn your animal.
The reptitemp 500r thermostat costs $25. I would order one online asap.

Re: Uhmm pls help
They are really hard to find in stores.
If you are using gagues, you do not know your temps.

Re: Uhmm pls help
You should put the probe on the glass under the sub. where your ball's hot hide is and then you can put the unit on the cool side and it will display both temps. You will probably then notice that the glass where the UTH is at will be way too hot for your snake. They get upwards of 120F uncontrolled. The ball will typically burrow under the sub. in the hide and will then be exposed to these temps.

Re: Uhmm pls help
yea well idk y but both y snakes like the cool side the baby sometimes goes on the warm side but the adult stays over on the cool side and i did check the thing i put it right under the warm side hide and it was about 99f so i just turned off the lamp and now it should be cooler cuz the like was making it hotter so it should be good and like i said ill get one of those things next month cus this month i spent alot of money on my snake so ill get one next month he can last till then it wont kill him he doing good for this week so he can stay for another like 3 weeks till i get it right?

Re: Uhmm pls help
I doubt the light was making it that hot, it is probably the UTH itself that was that hot. Just make sure you monitor it because they will get up to 120 unregulated and that can kill them.

Re: Uhmm pls help
yea well i mean both together made it that hot with out the light its like 90 i would say so its good for now

Re: Uhmm pls help
Then your UTH must be off or your therm. I havent heard of someone using an unregulated UTH that only reached 90 F. But, then again, I guess its possible.
