Stupid Feeding Error - now with added blood
    Hi,

    I got careless again.

I went to offer Cleo a small rat and was annoyed to see that, despite me going at it like a good 'un with the hairdrier not 3 feet from her tub, she had not deigned to show herself out from under the newspaper.

So, rat dangling by the tail from one hand, I proceeded to try and lift the newspaper to find her head (despite my best efforts she seems unwilling to strike with her bum end :P ).

I lift one side..... nope no snake at all that side.

And so, braincells akimbo, I get the rat ready to dangle and reach out with my other hand to tweak the newspaper aside to let her ladyship see the rat. :slamhead:

    Instant SFE.

She seemed a mite surprised ( possibly at the language ) but recovered well and got the rat I hastily waved in her direction.

I am proud to say she then heroically ignored my manly blubbering and wolfed down the rat like a pro. :rat:

Some day I really must remember to buy those feeding tongs.

    Heh heh,

When I saw the flash of accelerating snake head I just hoped she realised my mistake and didn't do the whole coil and grind the jaws in trick I got the last time - she's a big lass and that would have hurt. :taz:

I like my carpet, she knows when it's feeding time and comes hunting, I never have to hunt for her and stick my hands anywhere near the danger zone.

    Danger, Danger, Danger! lol.

    good pics :gj:

    Big Baby.

If you have any manual dexterity, and since you're single I'm assuming you are quite dexterous with at least one hand, chopsticks can be fun as well as finger protecting.

Here's a pic of her building earlier this year - the handles are 5.75 inches long and the bowl is 7.5 inches in diameter if that helps you judge size. :)

    Both hands ( I'm an overachiever :P ).

I'm death on stilts to a shredded crispy beef but I'd need 24 inch chopsticks to defend against Cleo in feeding mode. :D

    And probably fencing lessons.

Who says you can't get a decent feeding response with F/T.

I just recently changed over to paper for the ball pythons myself. I was wondering how others dealt with the problem of the ones that hide under the paper on feeding day. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll avoid using your method. :D
Nice bite you got there, how long did she take to let go?

LOL!!! Wow.. She did get you pretty good didnt she?!?

I DID remember to pick up my feeding tongs at the show :P

After i got pegged by an over zealous 6 month old, I was reminded of the nasty bite I got a long time ago from my burm. I decided i better get those tongs before one of my larger balls (some have serious attitude!) decides to "peg" me a little worse than the baby did!

    GO GET SOME TONGS!! :8:

Tongs have been moved slightly up the shopping list. :gj:

She bit and let go almost instantly - I've had the full on coil and constrict before and that is seriously not fun. :tears:

I think my first BP will eventualy do that to me, she still very young so am not as worried, but Im sure later on I will be a little paranoid about feeding her lol. She is a VERY aggresive eater. She reminds me of that feeding video Adam W. made!
