Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
Get heavier water bowls? Cut a piece of appropriately sized PVC and put a deli cup inside so they can't tip it?

I buy these (not necessarily this size) at the pet store:

You can use any ceramic dish really. I would pick glazed over unglazed for ease of cleaning.

I would recommend the "Ethical Products Crock Dog Dish". You can get them at many online stores. I have all my snakes with them and I don't have a problem :D you can get many different sizes and I see that a lot of people use them now.

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
You can get shallow water dishes that are large so the snake can completely fit in it without spilling it! I got mine from the pet store for like $10!

Wallmart. Get some dog bowls that are tip over proof. It might not fix the problem though. Sounds like your snake is learning Kung Fu. Might need to give him more room.

I had to laugh when I read this because I go through this every couple of months with Tanveer. He goes through a period where he decides that apparently I don't clean well enough or something so right after I get everything set up again in his tank he kung fu's his bowl and tips it over......sigh. After about 2 days of this he usually stops though LOL. Good luck!!!! :D

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
I use Deli Cups (several sizes are available) I hot glue one into place and fill another with water and drop inside the glued one. When time to refill the water you can take the inner cup out and replace with a new one if needed. Also if you need to remove the glued cup you can do so since hot glue removes easily. Just don't place them into a corner or your snake will wedge itself behind the cup and pop it loose. I come off the side of the tub about four or five inches and place it. This offers the ones that like to wrap their water bowls that pleasure without tipping over the water.

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
I second the PVC pipe with deli cups. I am looking into that as well. Question for you people out there however, where do you get your deli cups and what size? Websites would be helpful here folks.!

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
ARS Caging tubs with built in water bowls is what I use, they accept the deli cups

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
I have half my snakes with ceramic bowls and half with plastic dog bowls. Never fails, the ceramic bowls never get tipped over and every single plastic dog bowl does.
Another bowl I've used was a dog bowl that had non-skid rubber on the bottom and the base was wider than the actual bowl part. One of my females has that bowl and she has not managed to tip it over yet.

IF you are going to donate the money for all new tubs and racks, sure. :D

Re: They keep spilling their water bowls... Help!
If you use a rack system buy larger diameter bowls. My bowls are approx 10 inches across and can't tip since they will hit the top before they can flip. I fill the bowls with an inch or so of water so if they soak it doesn't overflow and if they start to tip the bowls the edge hits the top before water will spil out. Make sense??
