What should I name my corn?

Well, I finally bought a corn snake! :) He's an "Aztec Reverse Okeetee" I found on Fauna classifieds, and will be arriving next Tuesday. They're pretty sure he is male, but said they aren't 100% sure - so I might pick a unisex name just in case, LOL. Here's a picture of the little guy, and I've added a poll with the names (both male & unisex) I've come up with... feel free to suggest anything else!

I went with Scout. Dunno why, but when I first saw the little cutie, I thought something like Scout or Scuttlebutt fit him. lol. He sure is adorable, congrats!

How about "Aztec" if it is a male or "Candy Corn" if it turns out to be a female?

Thanks for the replies! I thought about going with something Aztec (Nahuatl, as I learned is the proper term), but their names are rather difficult to pronounce. :oops: The name "Itzi" is based on some Aztec names I saw, and could also be short for my musical hero - Itzhak Perlman. :gj: Leaning towards Scout at this time, however... but would love to keep hearing ideas!

P.S. Candy (Candy Corn) would be adorable if he turns out to be a she.

LOL @ Scuttlebutt. :8: You may have noticed I did go with mostly Southern-ish names, since I read they come from South Carolina... actually got a few of them from a list of SC towns.

FYI: I just got an email from the breeder, and he said his wife popped the snake again... it's definitely a BOY. :gj:

Name him Cob.

I have always been an advocate of letting the animal "tell" you what it wants to be named. Give it a few weeks and a name should just pop into your head that seems to "fit" him/her.

I vote Ziggy b/c he has such an awesome zig-zag pattern!

I'd like to get a corn snake, and name it Flakes. (corn flakes..:P)

:8: Those are some good "corny" names - LOL! Not sure they suit this little guy, but I could totally use them in the future.

We should start a thread on the best - and funniest - corn snake names... a couple I thought of were "Orville" (Redenbacher) and "Jiffy" (Pop). ;)

When I got my normal BP Mona (Desdemona), I had no idea what to name her before she arrived - then the second I opened the box/bag she arrived in, she just screamed MONA! :D So yeah, sometimes they do sorta name themselves.

Strawberry, cherry, Or something like that would be my suggestion.

I thought about getting a candycane corn, and naming it "Strawberry Shortcake" - I suggested that to a guy at Petco (who was buying one), and he loved the idea. :D

P.S. Looks like Chester and Scout are winning the poll so far, not including the "other" votes... he arrives on Tuesday, so I'll let you know what I decide. :)

FYI: Just checked the UPS tracking on my corn... he arrived in Oakland (from MD via KY) at 4:27am, and was put on the delivery truck at 6:15am. :banana: It's pouring rain outside, so I just hope his box isn't all soggy!

Still leaning towards "Scout" for his name, but I'll wait until I see him before deciding - will post pictures and his name later. :)
