Well... you were all right!
I just took a closer look at my "girl" Sahara (LV Albino), and she is definitely a HE! :8:
Guess I have to change his name now - or maybe not? So the next question is, do I need to separate them? The GIRL is around 4 months old, and maybe 25g, which I'm thinking is too young for breeding. But will they do anything if they're not ready? Anyway, here is the proof... please correct me if I'm wrong, but this certainly looks like a boy "V" and bulge to me.
Yes, he peed on me - LOL

And two more pics, just because they're cute...

Re: Well... you were all right!
Thanks for the good pics. Definitely looks male to me.
25 grams and 4 months is way too young for breeding, and you don't want him harassing/breeding her at that age. Definitely separate them for at least another year (leos reach maturity at around 18 months old, and females should not be bred at less than 50 grams, preferably more like 60+).
Oh, and you'll get nothing but agreement out of me regarding them being cute. :)

Yeah, what (s)he said!!
Glad you had a closer look, it would be good to separate them 'til you (and, more importantly, they) are ready for wee little babies!

He, just for the record. :)

Thanks guys/gals... :) I think he's adorable too, but now I'm a little perplexed on what to do with them. I really don't want another cage, since my room is already getting crowded - with 7 BPs (in a rack), the gecko cage, and a cage of breeding mice. And that's not even including the dog & two cats, LOL. Could I put one of them in a Sterilite tub, and just house them in the snake rack? I use flexwatt, with belly heat around 90 & ambient between 75-80... is that alright for a leo?

Speaking of which, when could they be ready to breed? The BOY weighed around 29g at last weighing, and the girl (still have to verify her gender, hehe) was around 25. I seem to remember 50g being a good breeding weight, so I wonder how long it would take to reach that size?
Final question - what will I get if I breed them, a Las Vegas Albino (het patternless) and SHTCT? Is that a pointless mating?

Re: Well... you were all right!
I think I've found a solution for now... my roommate was looking for a definite male leo, since he already has two boys in a 20g tank. He just went to look at Sahara, and asked if he could buy him off me - I said yes.
I'd actually prefer to keep Sahara over Sunny if I had to get rid of one, but this just seems like a perfect situation. Not to mention he's my roommate, so it's not like I can't visit Sahara whenever I want. :D (as long as we're still living together, at least) Whaddya think? Then I can just keep Sunny in the terrarium, and maybe get her a male when she's of size... probably another SHTCT or something else compatible.

Wait, wait, wait... he's keeping males together in a tank? That's a huge no, no. Males can be extremely territorial and will fight (to the death if they are able)
Is he sure that he is housing males?

Whoops, I made a mistake in my last post... he has two FEMALES living together, LOL. (just asked him to make sure)

Re: Well... you were all right!
I just separated the two, and put Sunny into an extra 15qt tub I had... also found an extra 10-20gal UTH laying around, so I just hooked that into my thermostat, and put her tub on top of the rack. They both actually seem happy to be alone, especially Sunny.
I'm thinking this might help with her skittishness, since it's now clear she was being bullied - she is much smaller/thinner than Sahara, but already looks more plump after eating 5 mealworms in her new home. She's also hanging out on TOP of the hides, which is a first for this girl. :gj: Here are some pictures of their new setups, and please tell me if I'm missing anything... I do need to add a humid hide in the tub, just trying to figure out how.
Sunny's new digs (for now)

Speaking of which... I was just thinking, could she possibly be pregnant already? I certainly don't see anything to indicate that, but want to ask anyway. The boy is the same age (4 months), so hopefully he is also too young.

Shouldn't be, but let's just say that it's good that you've separated them. Regarding your earlier question in the thread about at what age they reach adult size, if you look back to my first reply, you'll see that I said they reach adult size at around 18 months. This can of course vary slightly from individual to individual, but if you wait until they are at least 50 grams (55-60 is really better) *and* 18 months old to breed, you shouldn't have any problems.
That said, even if you intend to breed them, it's still better to have separate housing available unless you've got 1.2 or 1.3, because a male will generally harass one female too much - if you divide his attention between a few females or only house them together for short periods, it'll be healthier for the female(s).

Re: Well... you were all right!
Thanks! He'll be living alone for a while, until he puts on a little more weight... and then he will join my roommate's girls, since I wasn't even sure about breeding mine. His two are already full grown (I think 3-4 years old?), so I'm sure they are ready for a boyfriend. ;)
P.S. Do female leos generally like having a "friend" around? If so, maybe I'll get another guaranteed female to join her. If they don't care either way, I'll probably just keep her as a solo pet. (I can always add a male if I change my mind, once she's big enough to breed)

In my experience, Leopard Geckos do better housed individually. There is no chance of bullying or competition for food. Leopard geckos (along with most reptiles) require no companionship and are solitary individuals. Just keep in mind if you do get another female it needs to be close to the same size your current one is and that there is no guarantee that they will get along - be prepared to house them separately.
