Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
My 04 female Lesser Platty is hugging her waterbowl ... i'm on my first breeding experiment..
does this happen often?..,.. anybody have any idea what sign is this?.. :)
thank youu.. :)

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
She is most likely developing follicles. Have a look at this....It might help.

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
@twistedtails:
thank you for the link... :)
during the day i double check and caught her again ...
http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...90930-1606.jpg
i just double check on the website... based on the pictures there,
so do you think.. is it a pre-layed soak?..
-
Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
It would only be a pre-lay soak if she has already ovulated... Have you noticed a large swell in her mid-section that looks like she swallowed a Jumbo Rat?
-
Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
@turboserpent:
i will check.. :)
because she only eats white mice... hopefully i'll see something :)
-
Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
she never been grumpy but she looks very alert and defensive but i dont see any swelling... when i lift her up.. she is very tense..
but i notice that she is going in to shed.. i saw her belly getting a bit pink

When did you start breeding her??

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
If your female is still eating that is definately not a pre-lay soak. Most females go off food before they actualy ovulate. After they ovulate they should shed 2 weeks later and then lay 30 days or so after that. It could be a pre-ovelation shed though. You should watch ralph davis' video on palpating to see if she has follicles. You are going to have a lot of questions during this first breeding. I did. Most breeders will tell you that just when you think you know what you are doing you get thrown for a loop. Just be patient. By the way, that is a beautiful Lesser that you have there.

thank you... :)
i did try an attempt putting a male in 1-2 months ago.. :)
been out of the country and actually going to put the male back in.. :) until i notice this happening..
i think i'll wait till she sheds... then put the male back in..
but 'what if' it turns out... its a pre-lay... ?.. is it still ok to put the male in?..
you are very right about a lot of questions... hehehee..

Once she ovulates she should start refusing him, or, he will not show interest in her. She is most likely right now in the early stages of follicle development. If you observe her enough, you will notice a change in her behaviors. She'll start laying inverted and will probably be a bit restless or seem pissy. If she is developing follicles the male will probably be all over her when you introduce. Make sure you give the male breaks....Like 3 days on and 3 days off. If you go to pull the male and he is locked up with her then pull him when they seperate and give him 3 days off. Just experiment, you will find a method that works.:gj:

Hey by the way, I see that you are in Indonesia. I do the staging and lighting for the annual Indonesian Consulate event in Los Angeles. All the Consulate guys are great people. The Consulate General is awesome too. Keep us posted on your girl. If I can't help you with your questions somebody will be able to.

From what it sounds like she is well on her way to ovulating. I would continue to pair her until you see an ovulation though. It won't hurt anything. In fact, from what I have been told, it will help push the girl through follicle production. Keep us posted though.

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
Just curious, i have a normal gilr about 1500 grams... never been with a male, but every once in awhile i open her up and see her curled around her water bowl.... is just a coincedence or is this saying something to me.

even with out breeding they still go threw the cycles just like a woman, only i hear that they are the lucky ones and obsorb everything back in if they dont mate instead of releasing it.

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
Like some other people said, she is probably developing follicles. If she starts getting really pretty, start looking for an ovulation then eggs. Good luck.:gj:
ps. Woooow, not one single third person reference.:D

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
Sounds like she is running through it all nicely. Congrats, and best of luck... hope you have that incubator fired up! :)

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
i have started to pair her for a about 3 weeks since the waterbowl incident..
the male is having a rest... he's very blue... due to sheeding... is it oke to put him in this situation?..
3 days on and 3 days off.. :) like suggested.. :D
if ... just if... she is ovulating... how quickly do i have to have a incubator ready?.. 2 days... 10days ... 30days?.. (crossing fingers :please:)
-
Parents to be.. i hope ...(crossing fingers) :)

Once you spot the ovulation, she will go into a shed about 2 weeks after. From that point, it's about 30 days give or take a few until eggs. It's always good to have the incubator ready though. I forgot to mention, it's gonna cost a lesser for all the info:D

Once she ovulates you have almost two months before you see eggs. It's better to have the incubator all set up a couple weeks before that just to make sure it holds a constant temp though. Look for the shed after ovulation. Usually it's 30 days after that you'll see eggs like twisted said.

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
thanks guys!...
i better look for an incubator fast!...
i read in books that they go off food... is it oke to give/offer her food in this time?.. a snack maybe... hehehehe...
-
Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
I wouldn't try and offer food at this point.
Females will stop eating at this point in the breeding schedule anyways.

If she ovulated, she probably won't eat, but you can try. If you're not sure, always continue to feed her.

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
almost all my females are leaving trails of blood. its quite normal =]
-
Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
I saw a vid by Ralph Davis that explained when females musk that they sometimes leave a bit of blood. Not to mention the fact that they lock up for so long. I'm sure if I was locked up for 24 hours I would be a bit irritated too:D

My male had some blood earlier this year after breeding. He is fine now though. I would definately pull him out and inspect his penes...<-----That didn't sound good, did it? Let me rephrase that......You should definately pull your male ball python and inspect his peroductive organs.:D

Re: Waterbowl Hugging :) ?
@twisted:
hahaha... ! the second one sounds much better.. :)
... i suspect that is the female.. she did this before in the middle of the year..
