Stresed Behavior? or Hungry? pics

Ok, so my BP is about 3 and a half months old, 151 grams. The other day he was exibiting some rather odd behavior. He was climbing up the sides of his tanks, almost like trying to get out or 'hunting.' I've included some pics to help descibe what Im talking about.

What I'm wondering is if this is totally normal or if he is stressed? Or just maybe hungry? Also please ignore the temps in the pics. The top is just ambient temps and the middle is temps on top of substrat (its 92 below, he burrows) Any suggestions?

snakes are ambush predators. seems more like stress.

are the pics taken at night? or during the day?

The pics were taken around 11:30 at night.

That's a regular behavior if its at night there's no day my bp doesn't explore its cage except if she ate that day...usually if they're stress they won't come out of their hides unless you take 'em out...

My BP does that at night as well. Most of the time I catch him, and watch him crawl around on his thermometers and stuff, other times I just hear a THUD....

totally normal, if he decides not to eat for months then you should start to worry

He wasn't hunting, they don't actively hunt for food. As mentioned before, they ambush hunt from burrows (in captivity, from hides).

Looks like he was doing his evening exploring (and he was probably checking for weaknesses in the top for a means of escape if possible.

If he just does that casually in the evenings, and doesn't seem frantic about it, nothing to worry about.

If he's doing it constantly, even during daylight hours, he's likely displaying stress behavior.

My Mojave is about 3 months old now too. He has been extremely shy up till about 5 days ago, then he started crawling all over all the time. When I handled him he was alot less jumpy than ever before though, so I let him roam around a bit (first snake and gave him a month of quarenteen just the same. He kept the exploring behavior up the next day so I fed him a bit early.. and being a mojave of course he pounded that rat harder than I've seen him strike before.. and he's been calm the last 3 days now.

My theory? If yours is 3 months old it's probably just figured out you're not going to eat it, and is acclimated now. So it's time to explore and get the hell out of captivity! If you've had it long enough to make sure it's nice and healthy, you could let it out a bit under supervision... but beware the taste of freedom! I plan on having mine out alot in the evenings (once I get him not to save his poo for when he finds my clean laundry on the floor... grumble) to get excersize and stay healthy but I'm a hands on pet person. Over all I think the new activity is curiosity in mine at least.. not like he will ever stop eating to tell me he's not happy tho.

Seems pretty normal behavior, my 2 year old BP explores his cage every night at around 11 or 12.

Mine does this if she's hungry, after every poop, she always does this until I feed her, I guess she's just hungry CMIIW

I've never heard the splash, but have seen drops of water on the sides the next morning, LOL!
