What did I do...

...to upset the ball python gods????:( Last clutch of the season piped yesterday, 7 eggs from a very nice spider to pastel. Not 100% sure yet but looks like 2 pastels and 5 normals!! This has been the pattern my whole season!:mad: I guess this is typical for the overall year I have had in general....just looking for the gods to make up for it next season.

cull the normies as a sacrafice!!

That's bad, last season I produced a lot of normal males myself but this year I made up for it so hopefully you will make up for your bad season as well next year. Just be patient ;)

It always gets worse before it gets better right? So maybe next season you'll get 7 bees?

Sorry to hear you did not get any BEES. But look at it this way you have 7 new ball pythons and maybe they are all girls.:D

New here. what is the deal with these morphs. Are they worth more money? U guys all breeders? just like the challenge of breeding them?

morphs are worth way more than normals. not all of us breed (at least I dont).

1st year I bred my Black Pastel to a friends BIG female... 9 healthy eggs all hatched- NORMALS everyone of them. You know how hard that is? :O So the odds can do funny things sometimes.

A lot of folks here are breeders...very few do it for a living. Personally I consider myself a breeder because I do try to sell what I hatch. My goal is to make enough of my babies to support the hobby, so basically I do it because I enjoy it...except when I get really bad odds on a potential good clutch!!

I don't know - but when you figure out how to change those odds, will you share your secret?

Last year, out of 10 eggs from two clutches I produced 1.1 pastels, and 4.4 normals. In my possible het clown clutch, I produced 3.1.

This season, the mojo clutch was 1.1 mojos and 2.0 normals. The Tiger clutch was 0.1 tigers, and 2.2 normals. The poss het clown clutch was a little better - 2.3. And neither of the two females I bred with my lemon this year took.

Hoping that this coming season will be better, at least for the lemon pastels, because I have a lot of people on the waiting list for them and I hate telling folks I don't have anything for them.
