    first clutch hatched !
So my first clutch is hatched. The babies have not left the eggs yet, once they do Ill have some pics. I had bred my spider and pastel to a norm female. Pastel won :P
unless one of the norms is the spiders.
6 eggs i have 4 normals 2 pastels. The pastels from what I can see look amazing, crazy patterns. If they are females I will be keeping them, cant have too many female pastels. Although even if the one is a boy he may stay just becuase his pattern is so cool.
Most of the babies appear to be average size, looks like one runt though but it could be becuase he has a large yolk to absorb yet.
he was the first to pip and has his head out all the time but seems to be taking forever to absorb the yolk. As far as I knew they absorb it quickly once they start to breath air.
How long do they take on average?

One has come most of the way out of the egg but still has a bit of yolk so his back end is still in the egg.
    Is this normal?
also they seem to have more narrow heads then I am used to seeing on peoples threads. Do they fatten up a bit as the yolk absorbs?

That is a very astute observation. Typically when I see narrow headed hatchlings, they are typically the ones that have problems with the yolk in one way or another. I attribute it to them having problems absorbing prior to slitting the egg, and this is why their heads are smaller. You may have to get a closer look at the umbilicus and yolk if it is not out in the next 24 hours. There may some type of problem. If so, all hope is not lost. I have plenty of babies that didn't absorb any yolk, and lead normal lives with a little TLC in the beginning.

    Good luck,

Out of 6 eggs there are 4 norms and 2 pastels. Unfortunately one norm died before coming out of the egg.:(. I had checked on them and he had his head poking out, 6 hours later it was hanging over the side of the egg.The remaining 3 norms have left the eggs completely. I have 2 runts that are 37g and 38g. They only absorbed half the yolk but still have very swollen bellies. I will pay special attention with them. They are very active and the first 2 to come out. The other norm is 54g and absorbed 90% of his yolk. I have not sexed any yet. I will wait till after they have shed. Of corse the 2 pastels are making me wait and are still sitting in the eggs, but they look bigger, (bigger heads). I also put the eggs on wet paper towel since the first one out thought it would be cool to stick his head through the egg crate holes. These guys are not head shy and dont ball up. Is this normal, or do they develop thier ball habbits later?
not much for pics yet. I have one pic of the first baby out in my hand for size reference. and one pic of them in the egg box. You can see the pastels egg in the babckground with the tip of his nose showing.

    They are beautiful, congrats! :)

And I agree, you cannot have too many pastel girls.

I love the color on that one with the reduced patterned butt-end. Very nice.

So I guess you are a breeder now? :)

neat thing about this clutch is that all the normals have moms color but dads pattern. So far the one pastel has dads color but moms reduced pattern.

The last baby, 2nd pastel is out of the egg. I ended up with 5 healthy babies. 3 normals, 2 pastels. I will sex them after thier first shed. Tuens out the second pastel also has the reduced/banded pattern of mom. I am starting to think my girl could be genetic banded. Ill know after she has more babies in the future. I have plans for any female out of the 2 pastels to eventually breed with my spider that has a bit of a reduced pattern aswell. I should make some nice reduced bees. Here are thier pics:

So the babies have started thier sheds. Funny thing is the two pastels were the last out if the eggs but the first to shed. The 3 normals are in blue. A little dissapointment in that both pastels are male. I am convinced thier mom is genetic banded and had another breeder confirm that these pastels being banded prooves her out. I was hoping that one would be girl to pair with my spider for reduced bees. Guess I'll have to make myself a female spider. I will keep the nicer of the 2. Out of the norms 2 are female 1 male.
Here is a pic of the pastels after thier shed.
