Re: Pastel or Normal
It could be a really bleached caramel, but I'm 99% positive it's a ghost. :gj:

Re: Pastel or Normal
They are selling it for 40.00 all included, supposedly girlfriend wants him to get rid of it...
I'm aware of the fact it has to be quarantined, but I'm thinking this is a really good deal...
Anyone?
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Not a pastel for me, basing on that lil fella's head and pattern. In areas where a pastel should be black, that one have gray. Very typical to hypos. I have to agree w/ the other guys, that looks more like a ghost.

Is it local? If it is take $40 and prepare to QT it. Print out the picture to make sure it's the same animal.

20 min drive...preparing space as we speak...and printing picture...
Because I'm getting too excited...I'm gonna wait one day...I know I may be passing a good deal...but I don't like making purchases when I'm this excited...
I'm a believer of "good things come to those who wait"...If he sold it by tomorrow then I'll convince myself it had mites and/or RI...

Re: Pastel or Normal
Hi,
Have you run the standard anti-scam tests?
Asked for a photo on todays newspaper etc?
For $40 I don't suppose it can really be that bad a deal either way mind you.

Yeah, no kidding... I'd be THERE if this snake was near me.
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Me too... that is a good looking snake but I would take the picture along to make sure it was a match
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
I'd go now! If it's a ghost that's an AMAZING deal! If not, you still get a normal.

Re: Pastel or Normal
Well, I'm going today, to buy the Ghost, It'll be at 6pm Pacific time, I put the picture of the snake on my phone., Sooo, all I have to do is weight for 7 hours...:frustrate
I will keep you guys posted...
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
It does look Orange Ghost-y, but it could also be the light in the photo. I'd research OGs, and go look at it personally. Or buy it assuming that it is a normal, and that you'll keep it even if it is not a morph. Of course, quarantine applies to all new snakes; from the guy down the street, or a top breeder.
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Yeah the worst that can happen that it is a normal, which is still a good price being that he's including everything with it...He is sharing a room, but thats with me...:D
If it is a normal, I have a friend who is thinking about getting a BP, I'll give it to him as a Christmas Gift. Enough time to educate himself on BP's...
Well 3 hours to go...
Its been confirmed that we are meeting at 6:00 p.m. I'll take pictures when I get home and under a good light so we can confirm...
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
I'm anxious to see if it really is a ghost! It's 7:00, hurry home but be safe!:gj:

Re: Pastel or Normal
Ok well I'm back...and I have a new snake, Poll for naming him coming soon....
It's definitely not the same snake! But his color is still orangy and I took him anyway without saying anything...right now the snake is soaking for mites...He looks a little beat up, folded skin, and dents in his eye witch may have a stuck eye cap not to sure..., and it looks like he's a little dehydrated as well...The soak will help him...
It is still a nice looking ball...so I'm gonna keep him he is 165 grams right now. The previous owner said he used to feed him hamsters. And he told me how to take care of a BP:
"I'm giving you this 20 gallon tank (20 High), Switch the lights every 12 hours...and feed him hamsters every Friday."
The substrate was green construction paper...
And supposedly he had him for 4 months....which then makes this guy a tad on the smaller side.
I wasn't buying this guy's story, but the bp was cute with nice colors and it was 40 dollars...I'm doing the proper procedures in quarantining the bp. I see no mites, but i fear the other stuff...
AND unfortunately my Memory card isn't working so I can't take pictures right now...I'm gonna borrow my sis's camera, and try to post some tonight...So we can make the final decision as to what BP this is...

Re: Pastel or Normal
Aw darn :( At least he's got an orange color to him! It sounds like he didn't have such a great start to life, glad you took him! Green construction paper... interesting. Did he at least have a UTH?
Looking forward to the pics!
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
No hides and no uth!
So its gonna cost me a little more than I expected...
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Ok well I took some pictures, I'm very much not an expert. He still looks like a nice looking normal to me...but with a hint of orange (and thats comparing it to my normal)... What do you guys think?
This is what the guy posted
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/1825/pastelr.jpg
And this is what I recieved
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/7079/p7240303.jpg
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8929/p7240304.jpg
I'm still happy with the purchase, just happier if it was a morph without him even knowing...:please:

Re: Pastel or Normal
If that's the case,
His name shall be Pyrite...

Re: Pastel or Normal

Re: Pastel or Normal
Yep, he's a normal. Really nice one, too! :gj: Pyrite is a perfect name! :D
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
An look at the pattern it isnt the same snake even as the first picture, look behind his head and follow it back taking careful look at the pattern...nice normal though and $40 bucs is ok price..
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
He's a nice little normal! Still has some pretty colors to him.
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Yeah, definitely not the snake in the picture...but still a nice snake, nonetheless!

I knew right away it wasn't the same snake...
But I went in there saying, as long as it looks healthy, I'm taking it. And so I did. That was why i wanted an extra day before I went and purchased, Didn't want to get too excited for nothing
But I'm still happy, I see it as my first (last) rescue. No UTH, No thermometers, the rocks and water dish was green from the construction paper that coverd only half the tank, no hide, he looked very dehyrdated, dry eyes, and flappy skin.
And he tried striking me about 3 times, once when i took him out from the soak (he missed) and two times from in the tank as i was just looking at him...The tank is already painted three sides and the clear side is facing the wall for now...
And the poor guy was roaming every where last night, and this morning. He's a bit stressed, but that will soon change...
I'll keep you guys posted on everything
And thanks guys for complimenting My "Fool's Gold"

LOL...saw the add on craigslist...I was pretty confused too of what it was...

Re: Pastel or Normal
Nice looking little guy there. Glad he's in better hands now. After the transaction was made and you had your new little guy in your possession, you shoulda called him out about the different snake just to get a reaction ;)
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
Normal would be my verdict:)
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
I've noticed that normals that have not been well cared for or are sick often have a lighter then normal color to them. I hope he works out well for you.

This statement would be 100% wrong ! To think a normal ball has not been takin care of because of his lighter color makes no sense at all !
-
Re: Pastel or Normal
To Marks,
I completely agree with the statement you made about light colors on a uncared for normal. I got a little female from my cousin who wasnt fed for months and on the brink of death and she just now getting her color back(ive had her for approx, 2.5months). Where the brown was it was real light and where the yellowish color would be looks more golden.

I don't believe he is saying that all lighter colored ball pythons are abused and mistreated, but that being abused and mistreated can cause a ball to look lighter than it would when it is healthy. As in if you rescue a ball that is unusually light, it may start to darken up and become more 'normal' colored as it regains it's health.

Re: Pastel or Normal
I'll just keep taking pictures every month, and well see what happens...
Good news is, I fed him twice already, really quick feeding response. So I'm happy for that, but he still looks a bit skinny...
I'm still waiting on the PAM, I just found out that Pro-Products office was closed for about 4 days...So i'm getting real impatient in wanting to finish his setup...
I will keep you guys posted...
