    Beach pics: Pacifica, California
Here are some pics of the beach by our apartment. It's called Esplanade Beach; it used-to be more popular with people/tourists before the cliffs started eroding. As a result, it's now a very natural, relatively untouched beach. Now it is really unsafe to climb down to, although my husband and I got adventurous and went down there; enjoy!!

crab! He was being attacked by some gulls. We tossed him back into the waves.

This was where the staircase used to be, to get to the beach from the apartment area above. Now it is a VERY risky climb and I would not recommend anyone to go down there.

Dead seal! I still find/photograph dead things; that hasn't changed.

And I wanted to take this home, but it still had stuff inside. :/

Thanks :) Before Cali, the only beach I had seen, was the rocky Lake Erie beaches in Buffalo, that are ice/snow half of the year, and gravel/razor-sharp rocks the other half!

You should see umm... what's it called. The beach in Biloxi. That beach is kinda nasty. So the one you're at is like a masterpiece.

Very pretty pictures. You're lucky to live so close to the beach!

Thanks! I figured it this way. We could live cheaper if we moved inland more. But then we would never get to the beach.. which wuold kinda negate part of the reason that I want to live in Cali. And so it went!

Lol, I've lived in California all my life (With the exception of 6 months when I moved to North Carolina *shutter*) and I've only seen the ocean a handful of times. Kinda ironic since when I was in Tennessee once, this girl asked me what Cali was like, and I told her I grew up where there were a bunch of rice fields. She goes "California has farming fields? I thought it was all beaches and stuff" I about laughed my gut off.

    Yup Joe!

Haha! That's funny about what you said about Cali, Elise. I know that people used-to always tell me that they thought NY was all big-cities,not farming fields. I was pretty surprised of how much rural land is in Cali, and deserty-land.. but of course it can't all be coastal!

Yeah that is my favorite misconception about California. I see all these people wearing Hollister and I wonder if they know that Hollister is actually nowhere near the water and is actually a farm town, and a small one at that. A lot of people don't know about Cali and its farmlands...like Gilroy being the garlic capitol of the world ( and a damn stinky place to drive through).

<--Lived in Monterey, Seaside and then San Diego.

And for the record I grew up literally on the beach...in Brooklyn NY.

At the dead end is the boardwalk...time from apartment to sand beneath your toes...a cool 30 seconds. My building is the one on the right. =D

Thanks :) The move has been a completely natural, seamless transition to me. I dno't feel homesick at all; on the contrary, it is a relief knowing that I won't have to plow snow and drive scary, snowy country roads anytime in the near future. And I was extremely lucky to find a job so soon after arriving; my NY deli experience, helped me land a deli job that's above minimum wage and virtually full-time.

It IS odd though... not experiencing the season-changings. No leaves seem to be changing here (and of course, the succulent cacti plants outside haven't changed.) Haha, a local market has a Fake pumpkin patch set up for kids to pickup pumpkins out of! I LOLed at that.

But if sacrificing fall and spring, means no snow, I am fine. It will rain alot here in winter, and maybe get down into the 40s, but that is fine with me.

Nice pics! As you already know, I used to live in Pacifica - at Esplanade & Manor, which is about 1/4 mile from those pictures. When I lived there Esplanade beach was still open from both ends, and I was disappointed to recently discover the closures. We knew that was inevitable, though, considering my apartment house was on the verge of being condemned (due to the mudslides)... and that was nearly 6 years ago! Anyway, thanks for sharing the pictures, and I'm glad to see the move went so well. :)

Yeah, you'd better get used to that - LOL. Especially living in Pacifica, where they only have one season - FOGGY! :D Fyi, most of the trees here keep their leaves all year, since they are... ummmmmmm... evergreen trees. (I had to look that up, hehe)

Oh boy, do we have pumpkins if you like them... just go to Half Moon Bay, about 15-20 minutes south, and you'll see hundreds of REAL pumpkin patches. :gj: My (2 year-old) niece had a blast there last year!
