Geeze Louise - I Need an Ark!!
We're on Day 8 of torrential rains here in metro Atlanta - it's so dark outside it looks like night time.

Schools have been cancelled, rivers are over flowing and flooding roads, accidents are happening, we're losing lives due to flooding (accidents, etc).

We went from severe droughts two years ago to this rain with more predicted every day this week.

Where did this come from? For those of you who went to Daytona during Faye last year - the rain is as bad as it was then, just minus the wind.

I think you must be getting ours. It's pretty darn dry out here.

Rain IS that watery stuff that falls out of the sky, right?

That sucks. It really has been raining an awful lot, a lot more then I ever remember seeing. I guess it's with all this climate changing and such.

I feel your pain - we went through the rain famine 2 years ago and would joke about rumors of wet stuff that used to fall from the sky!

I don't live anywhere close to Atlanta, but if it got really bad I would hop in my car and help you out too! I have been through floods, I know what it is like. Stay calm, be preparred for anything to happen in an instant, and if you need help you know where we are (in the internet of course!).

Of course if it gets bad, he won't have power, maybe not even internet. I can always come in my cousins 4x4 truck that is jacked up with huge tires. His girlfriend can park her car under it.

Robin, in Atlanta, are the powerlines overhead, or are they burried underground? Here in Louisiana they are overhead, and power can go out very easily.

I am 10-15 minutes north of Robin and I couldn't even leave to get my paycheck. The three roads I tried to go down where flooded! It hasn't rained like this in a long time! Just a good day to get caught up on my cage cleaning duties!

Hang in there, Robin! Of course the loss of life and danger of the rains is terrible but the rain... I am a little jealous. I love torrential rains! Some of my favorite times were living in South Florida from 2004-2006 during the active hurricane seasons! Weird, huh?

I'm the same way! I love the rain...and have been wondering where the heck this year's rain has got to. Now I know. Robin, tell the skies above Atlanta to give Florida her rain back! LOL

Karl claims that all this rain came from six days that you guys just had. Is he telling me a story!

And I'm a she - for those that didn't know.

I left work an hour early today - thank goodness. I drove past this little local park and people were stopped taking pictures of it - you can't see the parking lot, and the water is flooded to the roof of the picnic pavillions.

Appreciate all the offers of help - who wants to come over and dry off a soaking wet dog for me???

The stories of loss of life are really sad. There was a good samaritan who was helping another lady who spun out on top of Spaghetti Junction (where 285 and 85 converge with loops of bridges). A truck hit her car from behind, which knocked her over the railing where she fell 55 feet onto the highway below.:tears:

    http://www.ajc.com/news/police-charg...in-142554.html

And today another lady's car was washed away, she's calling 911 and family to get them to help her - they just found her body this afternoon. Four people are missing right now.

I will say that I'm very grateful for four new tires on my car.

Hmm. I'm not really a dog person. Well depends on the breed I guess. One of these days i'm going to get a German Rottweiler & a Doberman Pinscher, both as puppies so they are best friends with me when I get older. Anyways Robin you should get a truck so even if the roads are flooded, you can still drive around. Then charge people to bring them places. muwhaha.

Well I guess our drought is over  good thing we have a boat just in case , at least the creek behind our house is behaving and plus we are up the creek not down.

It is bad but hopefully we should get a break tonight

I was thinking about you this morning when I heard about all the rain you guys were getting! From the sounds of it the flood here in IA last year wasn't nearly that bad. Other than we lost a lot of houses because people think it's a good idea to build a house in a floodplain

Well, most of us have received 6 inches of rain since midnight last night, and some areas have received FIFTEEN inches since midnight last night. :O

He's an hour east of me...so Pensacola may be stealing our rain as well. :P Seriously, we've had storms circling all around us for days and days, but it's like there's a weird bubble over my specific area and we just get teased. Out of the last two weeks or so of threatening rain, we've had one really good shower and that's it.

I was sent home 4 hours early today because of the weather (I work 2nd shift they were afraid we wouldn't be able to leave). And I may not be able to go to work tomorrow either because of it! :( At least I have a hill infront and behind me so flooding isn't an issue. Justin Kobylka is an hour and 1/2 north of me and he doesn't have water right now.

We don't close for weather - ever. Because our business relies heavily on our support group for restaurants, entertainment, convenience stores, etc - we all have to work.

On the rare occasion that Atlanta shuts down for snow - they rent blocks of hotel rooms close to the office.

With that said - I did leave work about 1.5 hours early and remote accessed into my computer when I got home - just finished what I wanted to get done for today (I'm covering my position and that of a co-worker fighting lung cancer right now).

Wow--that's all terrible. Be safe, Robin! I hope the rains slow down for you. I know where I am, we've been finally getting back into the normal Florida rains this summer--rain almost every afternoon. It's still not as much as we would normally have gotten (lol, like way back in the 90's...) but I think we're finally getting out of our dry spell. I know a month or so back we were in the same boat; we even had a road wash out about 6 miles from my house. There was just this place where the road completely stopped, and there was a ten foot drop to water, and about fifteen feet later the road was back again. Crazy stuff. Hopefully, that rain of yours will move on pretty quickly and not sit over you!

No No! Don't tell the skies anything pertaining to Fl. Robin! We (most of us) down here are enjoying the lack of rain...for once.

Its getting serious up there, but it'll clear up; hopefully soon, hopefully today.

And once it does clear up and things start to dry, yall will have mosquitoes to greet you.

Yes, I am dry and was blessed not to experience much more than an inconvenient drive to work today (closed roads everywhere from water damage). I had to do creative navigation today. My heart and prayers are with those who weren't as fortunate.

Many schools are still flooded and will be closed tomorrow - I'm sure the kids are loving that part of it.
