Well I got everything set up today, took me 2 1/2 hours to get everything set up and ready to go, and I'm very happy with the results. The humidity stays at the correct level and doesn't drop, which makes me very satisfied.

    BUT

The dimmer I bought totally sucks. Temps spike, which makes me feel uncomfortable. When I go to school tomorrow I won't have the UTHs on. What do I do?? The temps go over 100F. Would it be fine to just leave it on and keep the dimmer at the lowest since the snake would most likely move over to the cooler end?

I have never had any luck with the ZooMed rheostats if that's what you have. Temps have always spiked like crazy. If you're having problems you can get a probed thermostat when you have the $$. Without spending a ton you could pick up a Reptitemp R500 for around $30 or a little more.
I would add binder clips for the sides of those tubs. The longer one at the bottom will have more flex and makes escapes easier without clips. Losing a snake because you didn't use a 10 cent clip stinks. Glad you're liking the tubs.

Save yourself a headache and order one of these:
    http://www.reptilebasics.com/Ranco-E...d-p-16172.html
    or http://www.reptilebasics.com/Johnson...d-p-16178.html

It's $80, but it's worth it... trust me. Think of it as an investment for your snakes. Plus, you can use just one for all your BP's. However if you use two pieces of flexwatt (one for hot and one for cool), you will need 2 separate thermostats.

Also, I'd probably put the tubs on separate shelves/surfaces instead of on top of one another, because the heat from the sandwiched flexwatt is being divided between the two tubs, making the bottom one too warm and the top too cool (most likely).

Agreed on this point - I had my corn escape once when I forgot to put binder clips back on his tub. If there's even the slightest chance they will slip through, they WILL figure it out and try it eventually...

I know about the clips but I have this really heavy statue of a dog on top of it which keeps the lid down so I don't think he could escape but I'm pretty aware and cautious of that happening.

Where could I get the Reptitemp? The Zoo Med dimmers are horrible lol.

The clips will serve you MUCH better than a dog statue. I'd recommend picking em up when you can. You can buy a pack of a dozen or so for around $2.

Google it. You can find one online for $20.

Grats on the tubs :) So much easier. And yes, dimmers suck! I have one and luckily I'm home all day so it never spikes, due to my constant checking on it.

ALWAYS REMEMBER heat kills cold just slows things down.

I'd stay away from the Reptitemps. My friend bought one for his water python because (a) it was cheap and (b) it was a thermostat. What happened was his temps fluctuated all over the place, and then finally something happened where he put the knob on the highest setting (there aren't even any numbers on it) and it wouldn't go past 85 on the flexwatt surface. He ended up paying for a Ranco because he got so fed up with his Reptitemp.

My advice... if you have a job, save up for the Ranco or Johnson, and if you depend on your parents... well... make them understand that it's worth it for your snakes' health and your peace of mind :)
