What would be the best looking black pastel to you?
I think the next BP I get (within a couple years) will be a black pastel since I think they're gorgeous and isn't the super form the same as the cinny's super? An all black snake. Anyway, what would be the best looking black pastel to you?

This is ours, I think he is a fine specimen.... He is what I would consider a perfect black pastel, and a chance to brag a little as well.... :D

the super form of the black pastel would tend to be darker than the super cinny.

Would it also be cleaner? In other words, if bred with a black pastel x pastel and you got a silver bullet out of it would it be less likely to get the spots?

Ian G's line is the best for my money when you consider pattern, color, contrast -- and they make a Super with a PERFECT face/head. :D

If you breed a Black Pastel x Pastel you would get a Pewter not a Silver Pullet.

I would have to agree. My Black Pastel male is from Ian G's line and my Pewter female is from his line of Black Pastels also.

No no no, I thought I worded that poorly. I mean if you bred a black pastel to a pewter and I was trying to say that you're using a black pastel pewter, not a cinnamon pewter. Breeding a black pastel to a black pastel x pastel.

Here's my GCR line Black Pastels. They are from the same group as Ian G's line BTW. ;)

Different animal. Long story short -- Ian sold all of what would become the CG line shortly after importing the original animals and hatching a few clutches. These animals were originally named/known as Labyrinths. He began working with with a different imported animal which he proved and THAT line become the Ian G. line of Balck Pastels.

I have one CG Black female that has given me 2 nice clutches the last 2 seasons. I am VERY happy with her as a breeder. :) However, she looks different, her hatchlings look different, and her combos look different than do Ian's line. I have spoken to Ian directly about the history of both lines.

I would not hesitate to breed for a Super with Ian's line. :D

The best looking one is the one that appeals to YOU.

When I was in the market for black pastel I was looking for something dark and orangey with some striping and I ended up with this boy.

Wow according to Chris at GCR, both Ian G's Super Black & his Sliver Bullet was made with animals from the same group as my male? Guess he didn't know about the later group.

If you like the Super, check this guy out! He's her half brother (same dad) produced in '08:

IMHO Ian G or GCR both have some of the coolest patterned Black Pastels out there. My boy throws allot of ringers to which is fun. 3 in the '09 & 3 last year too.

Wow, these are all beautiful snakes - especially that pewter! :):) So, cinnamon and black pastel are different morphs, right? But they produce the same combos, when combined with a pastel or black pastel / cinnie? I'm so confused, LOL.

The colour cast for Cinnies is warmer than Black Pastels. Example:
    http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g9...IMG_4555-1.jpg

The outter snake is a Cinny Pewter & the middle one is a Black Pewter. Note the more Silvery undertones on the Black Pewter & you saw one of my Black Supers... Super Cinnys have warmer undertones - Browner looking Supers. I like both for different things. I'm going to make Sterlings with the Cinny Pewter, Sliver Bullets & Streaks with the Black Pewter.

Is there a silver bullet Black Pastel yet? I'm hoping that it will result in a cleaner snake (entirely silver with no splotches)

I am really partial to both Derek and Steve's Black Pastels.

In my opinion, both are stellar example of the morph, and both are references for me if I ever decide to add one to my collection.
