    "9" the movie
Tim Burton does it again... I just saw this last night, and it was so beautifully done. Every detail, I mean EVERY detail, was tweaked to perfection!! Anybody see this?

One thing I was thinking after the movie... I think the 9 dolls represent 9 different parts of the scientist's personality. Maybe that was obvious, I don't know. I thought maybe the female character was his wife's influence on him, or maybe just a more feminine part of his personality? And then, what do the cataloging twins represent?

What did you guys think? (and I can't WAIT to see Alice in Wonderland!!)

I dunno, I saw it two nights ago and I had a very different feeling from it. I thought that the animation was down right horrible during some scenes (can't think of them off the top of my head but i remember being appalled when i saw it). Coming after movies like Coraline this year the movie was disappointing. I was really looking forward to it too, my friend who is a manager at a local was even holding one of the posters for me. It was an amazing idea, I loved it, but it just didn't go deep enough into the story... not to mention Elijah Wood's voice ruined 9's character... Should have gone with Jake Gyllenhaal, just a little less feminine sounding for a character who is supposed to be inquisitive yet brave

..well. I went into the theatre and sat through not even 30 minutes, and proceeded to get up and leave. For some reason, it just didn't appeal to me or keep my attention. I adore his other films, but 9 just didn't do it for me. I hated the animation and voice acting was terrible (in my humble opinion.)
I'm certainly looking forward to Alice in Wonderland..I have high expectations for it :D

Just wanted to point out that Tim Burton didn't direct 9. It was Shane Acker. I believe Burton either produced it or just bankrolled it, I forget which. I would suggest looking up the short film that Shane Acker made back in 2005 that this movie is based on. Pretty awesome. :gj:

I enjoyed the movie. No, it wasn't the best movie ever, but I liked it. I thought the visuals were stunning, the machines were fascinating (I loved the cobra), and I liked the different characters (the different parts of the scientist's psyche). They don't give out much information, so a lot of stuff has to be figured out by the viewers, but I like that.

I didn't like Elijah Wood as the lead voice, either. It was too jarring.

Tim Burton produced it, Shane Acker directed it.

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. It was cute, it had a good story but there was just something missing from it. I didn't mind paying for the tickets, I thought it was worth it.

Wow, I'm surprised so many people were not impressed by it. I thought it was awesome. To each his own I guess.

I saw it tonight, it was good. I wouldn't say it's a must see summer movie, but it was very good and should at least be rented. That said Tim Burton didn'treally make this, he just produced it.

Was this totally animated or was it also stopaction?

I liked it quite a bit but it is a far cry from Burton's own work.

    I'd recommend it though.

It was computer animated with the intention of mimicking the stop-motion look.

    Ahhhhh, that explains it then.

This movie was smoother than Burton's others that were stop action. Not as quaint but still worth seeing if you like fantasy.
