RodentPro.com
Well our collection has gotten to the point that it has fast out grown our feeder production. So wanting to make sure that every snake gets its weekly meal we started looking in to F/T options.
After searching the net's different venues we settled on RodentPro for our first ever F/T purchase. We place our order and waited (they have a lag time when ordering so make sure you take that into account when ordering). They also have a great feature that allows you to see the amount of free space in your box so you don't waste shipping costs. :gj:
About a week later I got an email with a tracking number. It said that the shipment was at the UPS facility.. But wait WTF is this the delivery date is three days later :O:O:O..
Well the box showed up today at 2:30pm almost 72 hours to the minute since it was shipped. I kick the box up and ... Yep you guessed it.. It was cool but not cold like I would expect 180 frozen rats to be. My heart dropped, however I held out hope. After all RodentPro does this for a living so they must know what they are doing right?? right???

Well I opened the box and
Wow
there was this really spacey looking insulation

And when I opened that it was like opening a freezer door complete with fog and everything. The rats were packed 20 to a bag around a big ole block of dryice.
Much to my amazement there wasn't so much as 1 soft rat in the whole box.
Each bag was fill with one layer of SM rats that look to be in perfect shape. Their so fresh there's even a few little rat pellets in a bag.

Well I must say I'm impressed and will be ordering many more F/T from them in the future..
Here they are all nice and snug in the freezer.

I agree. I use Rodent Pro and love them. Professional shipping, great prices and great product.

Re: RodentPro.com
Only complaint I have about RP is that you never seem to get consistent sizes from order to order.
e.g. I just got Weaned Rats the other day, they're Rat pups all the way, just tiny, I'm feeding 2 at a time to compensate.
Other than that....
I phone in my orders when Rats are on sale, pick em up at my local show and save on shipping...
World keeps spinning:D
The issue isn't enough for me to switch sources, and overall they have a great product.

Yea but this is a small problem you will find pretty much anywhere

Re: RodentPro.com
That's why I find no need to venture off to another company:D
Just an observation I've made. I've only gotten F/T from RP so I can't speak on the others behalf.
But good to know!
Thanks Denial.

Re: RodentPro.com
no problem it can get annoying though having to feed the animals multiple prey items instead of one right size item

Re: RodentPro.com
on the other hand, i ordered a bunch of weanlings last time and i compared them to a couple smalls i had and they were the same size... HUGE weanling rats. guess i got my money's worth... ;)
overall i've been very satisfied with them. i've ordered from a couple other places, but keep going back to RP. their people are real cool too if you ever call them up.

Re: RodentPro.com
To me, that does not look like a porfessional freeze job.
No order, to tray, just kinda thrown in the bag. IDK maybe Im just picky.
But they do not look very nice.

Re: RodentPro.com
I'm glad you're happy. My experiences with them have been horrible. Especially the size inconsistency on them.
I realize that there will be variations, but I've ordered "hoppers" from them and they had anywhere to fuzzy up to medium mouse size in one bag. To me that's unacceptable. Especially after switching to Big Cheese and seeing that the inconsistency is very minor.

Re: RodentPro.com
Well we'll have to see how it goes.. of course I have animals that will eat all different sizes even jumbo.. So I hope it wont be an issue.. I'll keep you guys up to date as I order more.

Yeah it wasn't an issue as I had snakes that could eat those sizes. But I digress, I'll be interested in an update. Maybe I should give them a try again if they've gotten their act together...

Re: RodentPro.com
Once my snakes get to a size where I can keep on a certain size for awhile, I'm going to do a bulk order from RP. Only worry after reading this is the sizes aren't always consistant. My anaconda eats 35gram rats right now, and my rufous beaked snake has to eat either newborn, or mid size pinky mice.

Re: RodentPro.com
Glad you are happy about your order. I have used Rodent Pro and I do not have any complaints. Very good to deal with and as for size issues it has never bothered me. I dont think that in the wild or at my house a snake passes up a meal due to size or lack there of???????

Re: RodentPro.com
I have been using RodentPro for a few years. I have no complaints with them. I did have a problem keeping my f/t rats from getting freezer burns. I fixed it by purchasing an air tight ziplock contraption. One of those "As Seen on TV" ones. They stay fresh a lot longer. But, you have more animals than I do so your f/t rats wont sit in the freezor as long.

Re: RodentPro.com
I bought from rodent pro at a local reptile show to save money on shipping. It was like... $35 for 100 hoppers I think they are... Hopefully they will last long enough for my one snake. :D
Or maybe ill have to get that pastel I want.... :P

Re: RodentPro.com
rp has done a lot better than the past. Ive heard stories of them packaging them nasty(bloody, poop everywhere, and limbs missing) rodents. Inconsistancy can be an issue when it comes to smaller sizes im guessing. Rather small than too big right, expectually when it comes to your smaller snakes.
