Man that is sweet! Has anyone produced a black pastel caramel albino yet? I think those would have some really dark purples.

Has not been done yet. I hope to pair this CM male with a Black Pastel girl or 2 next summer.

The female on the right was very similar in color to the hatchling at that size. The pair continue to yellow-up and get brighter with age. The shade of the pink/mauve base color appears as though it will be variable. I have a good chance to make a couple more over the next few months. All 3 of these are PH Hypo as well. :D

I am not working with Pinstripes. :(

I have a few things in mind for my male when he is ready. There are some morphs I will NOT be breeding him with -- as I suspect they will kill the Caramel color. ;)

YES!!! The 2 girl were ballin' up and the boy was looking to make a run at freedom the entire time. I will continue updates as they all grow.

Today, I was most after capturing their true color -- I am happy with the pics in that respect. :D

If I would have stated to mess with the girls , I would have had all 3 trying to bolt!!! :O

    Re: Caramel Mojave Update
Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am glad you are enjoying the pics. I took them with my $150 Kodak Sureshot -- outdoors, no flash, and no post-shot enhancing. I have a Canon SLR that I am still figuring out how to use. My point and shoot can't take any close-ups and is slow. But for color, which is what I was trying to capture, I can't be this little camera!!!

I had no idea what to expect from the CM color progression -- being that these are the first. The larger girl is aroung 250 grams and was about the same shade as the little girl as a hatchling. The male is 150 grams and has always been a little darker. He has followed the same color brightening/yellowing as his sister. I have a good chance to produce 2-3 more before the end of the year. I am curious about how variable the color and pattern will be.

I have a few choice codom girls picked out for him this spring -- if he is willing and able? We all know how that goes! ;) There are also a few morphs that I will be avoiding -- as I am worried about them killing/smothering the Caramel color.

For those that may be wondering, I don't at all considerer the negative perceptions/press surrounding Caramels. I know of/have spoken with more than a few breeders that have produced 20+ PERFECT Caramels a year over the last 5-6 years. I am not saying they don't have any kinking issues. But, I believe the problem to have been DRAMATICALLY OVERSTATED. I do feel that said problems are genetic (not incubation related) and isolated.

I will post photos as these guys and gals mature. It is a very exciting morph and future project for sure!!!:banana::banana:

Thanks again for the kind responses. :D

These guys are seriously challenging the lesser clown as my new favorite BP morph.

Thanks! I LOVE Brock's Lesser Clowns as well -- but I will put my girl on the right up against his best Lesser Clown at 800+ grams.;) lol

Seriously, folks that are more about pattern than color are likely to favor Lesser Clowns. If you prefer color over pattern, you will lean toward the Caramel Mojave I suspect. There really is a combo to float everyone's boat!!

Both are great new codom-recessives and there is so much you can do with both by just adding the right 3rd gene.

These 3 are PH Hypo. Might be that the Hypo gene is lurking within a couple of them. :)

Yes -- all CM. The 2 larger are 1.1 and clutchmates. The smaller girl in the middle just had her first shed and will likely look like the brighter/peachy girl on the right as she ages. The male on the right has always stayed a shade darker than sis.

Wow, that's really cool! I have a Mojave male, so now I just need a Caramel girl... LOL. ;)
