I do substrateless incubation for everything, but I've had success with vermiculite, perlite, sphagnum moss, cypress mulch, rockwool, and plastic.

The substrate used here is vermiculite.

Could you do this method with Sphagnum Moss as it holds moisture well? Has anyone tryed this and had any success?

Same method here but I use Perlite. I like the idea with aquarium gravel, keep us posted with your results!

I though I included hatch-rite and APS in the poll but I must have forgot.
I was wondering does it matter what substrate you use when you use the light diffuser(substrateless method)

Also if you vote other feel free to tell us what you do use.

No it doesn't. The only point of even putting in vermiculite, perlite etc. is to keep the water from sloshing around and getting on the eggs when you move the egg box.

Yes. I use the same method, but I've used sphagnum moss, cypress mulch, rockwool, etc., as the substrates, and I've never had a problem. As long as the box is nearly air tight and the media can hold moisture and keep the relative humidity high, it will be all good.

im currently using perlite and im just thinking if you used aquarium gravel you wont have any waste(can be cleaned) also it would better support the egg crate
