Offensive Bites

I've been defensively struck before, but this morning I was cleaning tubs and had just fed the rats before doing so. I reached into one of my large females (1600g) tubs to clean her bedding, and she struck and tried to coil and reflexively I jerked my hand back which pulled her out of the tub.

Stupid on my part, I should've washed my hands between. It didn't hurt just startled the crap out of me, didn't expect it to happen.

How many of you have been bitten by an offensive bite? I know most get hit with the defensive. but offensive is less likely.

I had my BP out on the couch while watching tv about two days after feeding and got hit in the arm pit :O

I'm still waiting to get my first bite! :rage:

I have this 1 girl who is very nasty about biting, she took a swing at me yesterday, so hard that she actually almost fell out of her own tub!

I had a 2800+ gram girl grab the webbing in between my thumb and fore finger and wrap around my hand. every time I went to touch her she would squeeze and push her teeth deeper into my hand.

Not by a BP, but by my boa. He wasnt going after the rat fast enough for my liking so I reached in to get the rat and got nailed on the thumb and Index finger.

Sounds like the true offensive bite to me. Ouch.

I pulled my hand back while she was trying to coil, and it pulled her straight out of the tub, so she let go, but she keeps giving me the eye now. :rofl:

I got poped pretty good by a big 1250 gram bee this morning.. Got me right in the joint its still sore.

Me too, although I'm not angry about it :P

you can have my little guy, he likes to bite! actually he is just psycho and trys to bite me when im like 5 feet away and cleaning his cage! he actually just started to strike multiple times at me and fell off the table about a foot into his tub... when will he learn!

I haven't been bitten by a BP yet, but I was bit by a corn snake for similar reasons.

I've also had a defensive bite from a red tail. Good times.

My first ball bite is coming soon, though. One of my breeder females is a real card, she makes passes at me on a regular basis and I've lucked out so far. I'm sure my time is coming ;)

Just my opinion, I f i were you I 'll remove the duct tape from his hiding box immediately. That could cause real big problems. :gj:

I've been bit by my old female ball she was fiesty one at around 4.5 feet.

i have lots of nippers. ah who am i kidding i have some out right mean snakes.
at times if you walk by the rack you can count them by the thuds as i walk by the racks

My first bite from my BP (Candice) was during feeding time. She was wrapped around my hand pretty tightly and I was trying to get her into her feeding container (once she's in there, she literally goes into a feeding frenzy and expects food). So, I had her wrapped around my hand in the feeding container, and the next thing she does is go into a feeding frenzy and bites my left index finger. I pulled back, and somehow (wasn't paying attention) she bit my shirt and was hanging from my shirt with her teeth. I grabbed her and tried putting her back in the feeding container, but she wraps around my hand and tries getting my knuckles. Luckily, she didn't. Once I shook her off and got her into the feeding container I quickly fed her the mouse. My mom was standing there saying, "Oh my god Tiffany, did that hurt?". My response was, "Nah, it only felt like a pinch." which it did, but I was acting like such a woosey..

You know as a ball owner its not IF its WHEN; I was feeding Carob and holding the ASF in between the index and thumb, he hit it the mouse swung and he latched to that meaty thumb pad..I just waited untill he figured out he missed the rat and let me go. Wife was shocked, I only said that I was thankful it wasn't the 7ft RTB!!!

I have 4 defensive bites in 8 months prior to going to bhb......while cleaning the new bp's 2009 i kept getting caught up in omg! that is awesome looking and spaced off the basics of approaching a little runt lol, by the end of the first day I was so in awe and distracted left with 15 defensive little runt bites lmao......yet to have a coild attempt.......ps.....all of those totally avoidable lol.....

Numerous times by my corn, but I have yet to get bitten by a bp.

I have been bit to many times to count but never anything that wasn't my fault. Well except for my albino RTB hes just evil. He almost tagged me on the face last night scared the heck outta me. I could actually hear his mouth open right before he smacked me with his snout.
