You can pick up a decent digital scale from any major department store in the kitchen supplies area or any of the office supply stores (tend to be postal scales). Usually between 20 to 40 dollars or thereabouts. The one I have is the 7001 DX and I just love it. You can find it at these two online suppliers or heck even check ebay for it.

Personally I've never bothered with the AC adapter. This scale doesn't eat up batteries at all.

A scale really is a must have tool I think. Really helps keep track of how your snake is doing or you can weigh prey items on it if you want to. I love record keeping so I'd be lost without ours.

I picked up mine at Bed Bath and Beyond for $30.

They started at 19.99 and went up to about 69.99.

Got mine from Target--it switches from grams to ounces, and goes by 1 gram increments, and can handle up to 10 pounds. Perfect for ball pythons. :)
It was a kitchen scale, it came with a bowl.
