Dixie Reptile Show - Birmingham - November Trip

Hey guys! A group of us generally end up going to this show 2 to 3 times a year. At the very least, we try to make it November and April, and sometimes September. However, I think that September is not going to work for most of us this year.

So - let's start planning for the November show. It's being held Saturday, November 21st.

For those who have not come before - it's a wonderful weekend full of great friends, great drinks, late nights up talking and sharing animals. The show is a very small show, but we have fun there too. Friday nights we all go out to dinner (or order in pizza) and we all go out for dinner together on Saturday evening.

Someone usually reserves a 2 room "suite" where most of us end up hanging out in the evenings.

Karl is planning to come to this show with me (for those that don't know, he's living in Pensacola these days, for a job).

I hope that we'll have a nice turn out!

Please reply in this thread if you think you'll plan to attend!

I'm pretty sure I'll be going, but I am not positive just yet.

Trey and Jami will be there!

Ed and Carrie try to make an appearance.. :D and we'll be there early this time..So no waiting on us for dinner.

Myself and Sean are planning on having tables. So we'll be there. However, we will most likely be getting there late and leaving after the show on Saturday.

Nooooooooo!!!! You can't leave after the show - it's against "the rules"!!!!!!:(

I don't see a problem with us making it this time either, all depends on money closer to the show, but I am sure we can work something out, so count Shaun, Jamie and Caitlin in on the party!

More than likely I wont be able to make it again this time :(

April though looks more promising, and don't forget about Dec 5ths Ga show!!

Just wanted to say I have my reservations for the hotel and for a show table. I can't wait!

Reservations made, we'll be there Friday and Saturday night, we thought about just staying one night and coming home late Saturday, but instead we decided to make it a weekend to ourselves for Jamie and I, Caitlin will get the opportunity to spend the weekend with our parents that way as well. Going to be fun!

Lori and myself will try to come just to hang out with you guys.

Bumping so others can see - in one week many of us are going to be arriving in Birmingham on Friday.

Question for those going - we normally have dinner together both nights. Do we want to go out both nights, or just order pizza in on Friday night? I'm game for either!

I think Tim and Sean are only staying Friday night, so they may want to go out, rather than stay in - but hopefully they can weigh in. I know Aaron's only staying Friday night, and maybe Trey? But I think they are leaving really late, and plan to do dinner Sat night with us.

AND, I'm bringing home at least two new additions, the sweet YB female from Tim Bailey and Tonka Too, the spider male from Ed. Might pick up a Cali king female if I see one that I like and can't do without.

I took Friday off, so I'm driving up early. I think Karl's trying to drive up early, and we need to run by the Verizon store to upgrade his phone (he was due for an upgrade in June - so we need to get that taken care of).

Thankfully work has kept me so busy that this week will fly by!

We can't wait to see you and Karl again either Robin, its going to be fun, I really hope my week flies by as well, we plan on getting to Birmingham but 5pm Alabama time so we have plenty of time to hang out before dinner. I will be looking for some big Ratsnake females for my scaleless male, and I am also picking up an Albino het Anery Kenyan Sand Boa, and might pick up a female or two for him, depends on how the funds are at the time!

I've been looking forward to this since Trey and I decided to attend, it'll be only the 2nd show I've ever helped vend.

2 More days!!!!!! It's only Tuesday and this week has been hooooorrrible. :( I really need Friday to get here.

I can't wait! So glad I took Friday off - so I can get up there early and chill out in the room with Diamond (and Karl when he gets there).

No one's really said what they want to do Friday for dinner - eat in or eat out - I guess we can play it by ear when we get there and see who all is there. At least BK and McDonald's are open late for our really late arrivals!

Lunch is around noon - they won't be done breaking down until after 4. I think Carraba's for DINNER would be fine, but not convenient for anyone for lunch. ;)

I know that Jeff (a good friend of ours, a Sandboa breeder) will only be there Friday night and he will be with his nephew so Im sure he would be up for going out to eat somewhere as well, so if we could plan a later dinner at Applebees, TGI Fridays, Carrabas or somewhere open late I am sure thats when we would have the biggest group for sure.

But no really, Trey, Jami, and I will be there around 7 Alabama time, we gotta take care of something at 5PM (can't be done sooner) so we're going to haul ass once that's done. So figure out where we are meeting at and we'll drive directly over there.

It might just be you by yourself for lunch at Carraba's buddy! We normally do Carraba's for dinner. I'm hoping to still be at the show during the lunch hour, and we know at least four of our group are at the show the entire time (Sean, Tim, Trey and Aaron).

Are you not going to be around for dinner? Any particular reason you wanted to do it for lunch instead? :confused:

Eh, you have my cell phone - just call me. I figure we won't go to dinner (if we go out to eat, rather than order pizza in) until after 7 or 8 anyway to allow late stragglers to get in.
