What do you feed you Ball Python?

Just curious to see what most owners feed their snake! I feed live rats!

2 Live mice.

f/t mice

2 live mice or 1 med. sized ASF rat

Some of my snakes eat FT rats, some eat pre-killed rats, some eat live rats, and some eat live mice.

I feed live mice and I hope to wean onto ft mice later.

All of the above?

Everyone but my Het Albino get F/T Rats.

The het will ONLY eat live mice, and I have tried all the tricks in the book. :mad:

Most of mine eat F/T Rat/ASF; but I too have problems with my Het Ghost and Albino they both prefer LIVE and will go on hunger strike; the carmel went 45days without eating this past summer, got me worried. AT any rate I never, leave them alone with live. I have 2 rescues wih munched bodys from some yahoo doing that.:colbert:

There should be an option for "all/some of the above" - since I feed a variety of prey to my BPs. Delilah only eats mice, Toby will eat literally anything, and Mona prefers a live rat... I also have new babies that are eating hopper mice & weanling rats. I've tried F/T and pre-killed, but they won't eat it consistently, and I find live prey easier to deal with anyway. :oops:

i feed my bigger, better settled BPs f/t adult mice

i feed my youngest live hoppers

i feed my 2nd youngest small live mice

I have BP's that will eat almost everything I put in their cage.

I just started my snake on f/t small rats. He used to eat live.

i picked other because i can,have and do feed all of the above

I have feed all the above, but at this time I am feeding hampsters due to a very large population given to me by a neighbor.

Mostly frozen thawed rats. I have one snake that won't eat f/t at times.

at the moment im lucky enough that everyone takes F/T rats (or mice if necessary). Its the easiest for me to feed, but some of my snakes have been fed live before.

I feed all of the above, thought I prefer that all of them take f/t which would be so much easier :P

I switch back and forth between live rats and mice and F/T mice and rats.

I guess I will explain

I prefer to feed live, however during the winter when most of my animals go off feed, I end up with too many feeders so I euthanize them and freeze them, once my snakes come out of their fast I feed F/T first until I run out and then I feed live again.

I feed live ASFs or weaned rats ( I breed ASFs but I buy some live weaned rats once a week or so for my larger females).

No injuries so far. ASFs don't really pose much of a threat from what I've seen. They just chill with deer in head lights look until the snake wants to do it's thing.

Didnt vote because I feed the Yearling a small rat and the 2 hatchlings adult mice. They eat live.

My Ball Python only eats the highest quality shrimp in town. :rage:

I voted "Other". My adult ball python eats live rats (for now... hoping to switch him to f/t). My sub-adults recently went from live mice to live small rats, and then I got them to eat f/t mice last week because the f/t rats I had were too big. This week we'll try f/t rats as long as they're the right size. And my baby eats f/t mouse fuzzies.

both my girls get 2 live adult mice every week :)

I had to pick other as I have some that eat live small to medium rats and some that eat live adult mice.

i breed my own asf and my male and female both eat my prekilled breeder rats, the smaller bp eats the medium ones the crb gets the weened and my spotteds are the trash compactors.they will eat anything that is about the size of a small rat. As for the asf they get to eat veggies,store bought rat food and they also eat themselves.........

Is it ok to feed a BP a live chic? I seen a seller at a animal swap do this. I also seen a video on youtube someone feeding an adult sized BP a rabbit. :O

I feed F/T Norwegian rats, ASFs, and jumbo mice to my subadult-adult BPs. Live mice (size appropriate) for the hatchlings.

my corn snake and pastel bp get F/T mice, and my rosy boa will only eat live mice.

I think its okay as long as the prey is the right size for the snake! My friend has a Burmese Python and feeds it rabbits!

My BP eats F/T rats and my Burm eats F/T Bunnys.

I keep my snakes on rats. From birth to death.

All of mine eat live rats

I only have one ball still stuck on mice. All the others eat either live of f/t rats,asf, rabbit pups

All my snakes only eat live mice. Even my biggest normal bp, we have tried giving her rats, she absolutely will NOT eat them.

Used to feeds live rats...now I can get live ASF's.. the filet mignon of the feeder world :) He loves them !!

Pretty much the same now but I breed ASFs and won't breed rats because of the smell, so I buy some every week, week and a half. I also have some that only go with ASFs, so that puts a major damper on building up a good supply.

Mixture of live & F/T rats, with one guy that only eats live ASF.

A combination of f/t med. rats and large mice, depending on the size of the snake. An occasional live mouse, but I don't believe that live rats are worth the risk.

I feed fresh killed mice. Recently I had a problem with my normal ball python female. Recently I mean up until an hour ago. She hasn't eaten since October 8th. I have tried everything from live, f/t, asf trickery, to I just read a forum for force feeding and it was talking blah blah blah about them coming from africa and they eat gerbils. Well bam, tagged and swallowed in 45 seconds.
