    flex-watt help
will it affect breeding if one tub is slightly hotter/cooler then another because i have 3 strips of 3 in heat tape wired separately, but put on the same helix and they have different temps. Will this affect breeding if the drops still happen, just a few different temps here and there? If so will wiring them all together fix the problem?

i think what the OP means is there are a few different levels of heat tape? if so, you should put the probe on the top level, as heat rises.

every piece of flexwatt will not be exactly the same temp. how big is the difference in the temps in the tubs?

not too much, just one or 2 degrees i wireded them onto a complete setup (all off 1 plug) and the temps didnt change much but the top is like 93-94, the middle is 92-93 and the last is 91-92 (About)

try to put the top piece on the bottom and the bottom on the top perhaps it might change some

Also would a strip of 3 in heat tape (belly heat) be enough for a adult female?

    Re: flex-watt help
if you used 11" and 3" unfortunately you would get different temperatures. stick with one width of flexwatt

the only way you will get different temps is if your strips are different lengths. if one strip is longer then the other it is pulling more watts and that throws the others off balance. to get max efficiency make sure all of your strips are the same length.

    Also:

    1. If they are different widths. 3", 4" and 11" all pull different wattage.
    2. Heat rises. The higher tubs are likely warmer. I like to use risers or platforms to get my racks off the floor. Also, you can insulate under the bottom shelf to keep some of that heat in.

why are different parts of the tape itself different temps- like 1 peace would be one or 2 degrees different then another part of the heat tape? is this a big problem?
