We need another miracle & your prayers!!!
So my mother was on her way home from CT, She was driving all night and was only 15 minutes away from home!!

She fell asleep behind the wheel of her car and hit a tree, it caused it to roll over. As she was pinned upside down via the seat belt her dog ran out of the door. (it flew open because of the crash)

the lord was on my mothers side as all she got out of it is a sore chest from the seat belt/air bag. But her little yorkie is lost in the woods in Mass and we cant find her.

The accident happened around 6:30am, I wasnt notified until 11:30am. Through my moms tears she said was fine but was worried about her dog, she was barely audible because she was crying her eyes out over her. Thats all that she cared about was her dog, she even said as she saw the tree she thought to herself, This is it.. what about my dog??? (she woke up right b4 the crash)

She begged the EMT's, Cops and even the ER workers to call me so she could get the message to me about the accident and to go look for Leslie (her dog). They finally let her call when they knew she was stable which was at 11:28am.

Theres lots of details to this story.. like we had to have a baby sitter come to mass to get our 3 y/o, find out where my mother was because we were told she was released to her sister in law but she dont have a sister in law, couldnt find my mother for a few hrs after she was released and.. and.. and.. to make a LONG story short, myself, friends & family looked for her dog for 8hrs tonight and couldnt find her. We contacted the police, animal control, all the surrounding houses, put up signs, called vets offices, walked thru streams, woods, ponds..

No one has SEEN her at all. There's ACRES & ACRES of bear/coyote infested woods. Not to mention the road, rt 7. The speed limit is 55 through there.

Right now if she is still alive she's frightened, alone, cold, hungry and possibly in need of vet care. My mother is sick with worry all she's been doing is crying. My mom lives on a very fixed income, she doesnt have the money for another car she doesnt have the money to buy another set of dentures (they were broken too) all she wants and cares about her her dog.

We left clothing of my mothers there along with food in HOPES of her smelling the items and sticking around, but Leslie had 4 1/2 hours of a head start on us. If she didnt stay in the area, we may never find her.

The lord granted us all with a miracle today by not taking my mothers life, all im asking is 1 more favor from him, reunite my mom & her dog.

My mother doesnt go ANYWHERE w/o her dog, her dog is her best friend, she's all my mom really has, Leslie is her LIFE!

So please, say the biggest prayer you can for my mothers little 6lb yorkie. Pray that we find her safe and sound.

And if any of you live in Williamstown Mass and want to help us look for her, she was last seen on Cold Springs Rd. We all will be there again tomorrow to keep looking for her.

Thank you for reading and I thank you in advance for your prayers!

    ~Maizie

Thank you Lord for sparing my Mothers life!!!!!!!

Oh Maizie how awful! I'm go glad your mom is okay but to lose her beloved Leslie like this must just be heartbreaking. You are all in my prayers. I'm going to link this thread over to a major dog forum I'm a member of just in case any of them live in the area and also to ask them as dog lovers to include Leslie in their thoughts and prayers too. Big hugs sweetie, this must be a difficult time for your family. I wish I was close enough to be of any real help.

Also do you have a picture of Leslie or if not any identifying things like coat markings, collar color, tags, etc. I passed your link on to the dog forum and they are going to get the word out to other dog related forums and see who they know in that area. They'd like as much information as possible though to help identify Leslie properly or the exact area she's lost in (I did pass on your instructions about the route and house numbers).

Re: We need another miracle & your prayers!!!
    Hi Joanna,

Leslie is a spayed female yorkie, very blond in color. A super tiny face.
Wearing a teal w/ white polka dotted collar with a blue leash still attached.

I posted on the VT CL and Western Mass CL about it and got a reply about her possibly being spotted. The person said they were in the woods for 5 hrs looking but we didnt see them or hear them in the woods at all. They also suggested we put signs up, well if they were really there they would of seen the signs, right? but its all we have to go on and maybe just maybe its true and not a sick joke, so we will keep looking in that same area.

Unfortunately all the photos I personally have are from when she was a puppy and that wont help as when yorkies are pups they have lots of black on them. The only other real photo is from last year, my cousin took it, my mother doesnt own a camera and I feel like a lousy daughter for not taking more pics for my mom, she had even asked me, so the guilt level is very high on my part. Anyway this is what she looks like, though her hair is a little longer now, mom was letting it grow out

    http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4.../momleslie.jpg

ty so much Joanna, you dont know how much this means to me!! Its 10am and I need to get ready to head back out to search for her but Im going to staples to make a bunch of handouts to give ppl at the supermarket!

I'll pass the information along. Also on your flyers do you have a way to contact you or another person involved in trying to find Leslie? If not or you don't want to post contact info here, are you okay to give it to me privately. In case anyone of my dog friends knows people local to you that are willing to help search I need a way for them to get hold of you (or in case she's actually spotted).

Here's the link to the dog forum so you can keep updated on their efforts (or just prayers and best wishes) to help bring Leslie back home.

Maize, if you have a moment contact the AM radio station that would cover the area Leslie is lost in. They will often put out a public service sort of message in emergency cases like this. That's what my ex-husband did when both his Golden Retrievers got loose in a forested area while he was on vacation up in Canada. Within hours a lady phoned the radio station, having heard the announcement and found both dogs safe in her backyard.

Id love nothing more than to tell everyone we found her but yet again, our search turned up NOTHING. No one has seen her what so ever! Which really makes me think she did head into the woods, theres miles n milessss of forests & mountains, I knew about bears, coyotes but one woman said she has seen a mt lion. which would back up the story my fiance & friend told me, they said they saw big cat foot prints. I told them it had to be dogs or coyotes tracks because i didnt think big cats were in this area anymore. i guess i was wrong?

Jo ty for the great suggestion, i will contact them!! The woman from the burkshire eagle called me back today and said in the voice mail she was willing to print an article, I missed the call because I was looking for leslie and had no cell phone service.

I plan on going back there again tomorrow but i really am thinking something awful has happened and my hopes are fading so fast....

Re: We need another miracle & your prayers!!!
So we've been in contact with a woman who claims to be a pet psychic, her name is Bonnie Strange. Bonnie claims that one of my friends was really close to her at one point, (she described the guy as someone who smokes and asked if he has psychic powers too-and he claims he does and he sees her alive) Said that all of us calling for her is scaring her, said leslie keeps saying she wants her mommy and thats what my mom always refers to herself as when shes talking to leslie. she said one side of her ribs hurt her and she has had water but NO food.

said to bring my dog again and get him barking and have him pee in safe areas to keep her near.

i also just got off the phone with a nice woman named Megan, shes with the transcript, shes going to write up an article and put my moms & leslie pic in the paper too.

Ok i cant stay here on the PC i need to get back to mass and look.

ty to everyone whos had suggestions, kind thoughts and prayers...

Awww Maizie I so hoped to read that Leslie had been found by now. Maybe if you and your GSD just went to various areas you think she might be near and played awhile, have him pee, put out wet canned for him to eat, maybe that might draw her in. I know she gets along with your dog and knows him so maybe that might draw her out. I'm praying and hoping she'll be found soon. Maybe the lady from the newspaper can get the local radio station involved just in case anybody has found her or seen her running loose.

Has your mom been out there looking too? If not maybe you should try calling for her in a way that makes her think "mommys" there. Definately bring your dog along. Was there any toy she had that made noise that she liked? Anything that would be comforting to the dog?

Just keep look and praying. You'll find her. No matter what anyones faith on here is, everyone should tell you and theirselves that she will be found.

She probably is scared. She'll come. Just dont give up!

Maizie, a lady on the dog forum that I notified about Leslie's being lost made a suggestion. She wondered if in the confusion of the accident scene and all that, if Leslie might have circled around and crawled back into your mom's car before it was towed away. It would be the only thing familar to her at the scene. Has the car been thoroughly checked over to make sure she's not hiding inside it somewhere?

The day of the accident I went to moms car, I had to get some items out of it, so either she ran back to the car and hopped out on the way or after they parked it at the garage I have no clue? But trust me I have thought of that. if she hopped out after it was parked, then shes lost in the main part of town, if thats the case she probably would of been found/sighted by now. I have missing dog signs in town too and my cousin handed out little flyers with all the info on it to people at the grocery store. Or if she fell/jumped out on the way, theres even MORE woods but again theres flyers all along the road and a few houses down the main road. But if I go back looking again tomorrow, I will check the car again but I ripped thru the car ad debris and my mom was looking as much as she could (shes in a lot of pain) but we didnt see her. Oh also, I asked a woman who lived right next to where the crash happened, she said it was basically towed as soon as mom was taken out of it. But again we never know?

Im doing all I can but my pockets for gas money is running very low, every night when I come home I'm so downhearted & discouraged but when I wake up, I always feel confident thinking today will be the day we find her! But we've yet to find her. No one has even seen her yet.

As for Mom being there, she was there after they released her from the ER until nightfall and then the next day until around 5pm but she hasnt went back since. My mother has given up. When I do call her I do try to word it like my mom would, "come on Leslie, lets go. wanna go? Lets go Leslie" and like I said my mother lives right next door, (least I think Ive said it on here, ive talked to sooo many people) Ive been around Leslie since she was brought home at 8 or 9 weeks old. So Leslie being missing is hitting me pretty hard.

So yeah today I spoke with a woman with the transcript she is posting an article about my moms missing yorkie, hopefully it will be in tomorrows paper.
I borrowed a little grill and brought old burger patties that shoulda been thrown out a while ago (freezer burned), but I figured maybe the smell of them grilling would attract Leslie to us, my aunt sat there w/ the grill and I took BOTH my dogs (Apollo & Brooklyn) thru the woods one way, while others went another way. But no luck. We've looked high and low and everything the psychic told us, coulda fit EVERY place around there.. She saw water/streams/ponds/ red barn or red shack. Horses & deer, ok that again is everywhere! said she deff was alive then when asked again "i believe so" but then said Leslie was playing in a field and saw birds. She said to me she had NO food but had water but told my cousin she has eaten a few bugs. Well no food or a few bugs isnt going to give her enough energy for her to play!!

I think its a waste of time but its all we had to go on. Oh then the woman said she saw a long drive way, well talk about a slap in the face, I went up a long driveway only for a black lab to jump on my car, the homeowner got mad at threw his arms up in the air and and said "well you're on private property" he didnt even say sorry. I busted out crying after, frustrated with not being able to find my moms poor dog, hurt over her missing and wondering whats happened to her, spending all our money on this search and then the only thing i own (my 2005 not even paid off trailblazer) has nice scratches down the drivers side door and not even a sorry!!

I dont know what to do now.. 2 people have suggested those safe have-a-heart traps but we dont have any and no money to buy them. Our luck we'd catch a skunk and get sprayed trying to let it loose..

Ive always said if I didnt have bad luck Id have no luck at all.. i'm feeling so down right now :(

    Sorry about your situation.

The negative thoughts that permeate your last post will not bring the result you desire. Also this isn't about you being everywhere all at once, it's about posting the ads & stuff, then doing regular follow up. The dog is likely still alive & may even have been collected by someone. So take a deep breath, post the ads & follow up with calls. Hang in there!

Re: We need another miracle & your prayers!!!
Glad to hear that your mother is ok, and I hope you're able to find Leslie.

A tip I've heard when a dog goes missing is to include two things on the LOST DOG flyers - first, that there is a cash reward (don't specify how much though), and second, that the dog needs medication. Some people will take dogs, especially small dogs, even if they know they are lost and belong to someone else. But if they think that the dog is going to cost them a lot of money in vet bills or will be sick without its medication, they are more likely to give the dog back. I have this information on all of my dogs' tags as well ("needs medication - reward if found").

Be sure to post ads on as many sites online as possible. Off the top of my head there's Craigslist, Petfinder.com (they have a free section for Lost/Found ads), fidofinder.com, amberpetalert.com, lostdogdatabase.com, missingpets.com - just do a google search. Also contact the local shelters and rescue groups in your area - some of them might also have websites with a lost/found section that you can post on. Make sure to take flyers to all the local pet stores, groomers, and vet clinics as well as the shelters, and of course any non-pet related places that you can post them too (supermarkets, gas stations, churches, community centers, etc).

My and my ex-husband's dog was missing for two weeks once but I was able to find him. Don't give up hope!

Glad to hear your mother is okay. Good luck finding her little dog! I know you are both heartbroken over this.

Still nothing.. But Im not giving up hope..

So many people in that area have been out looking in their woods and walking around calling to her. Everyone is concerned and is helping in their own way.. except for a nasty old man, he's not too nice. I went to him the first day and then spoke with him the next day and said "ive already told you we havent seen anything, these woods are full of coyotes shes probably been eaten, if we see something we will call the cops" so he was telling us not to come back.

Then the day before yesterday he told us we couldnt park anywhere on his private road, (even though there are other houses on it) we have to park on the main road. So yesterday we walked in & when I did that he was on his porch watching us the whole time like hawks like we were going to steal something. We werent even near his house or looking on that side of the road where he lives. But hey, I can understand that some people are less than trusting. So I turned around and walked back.

Anyway I gotta make a few more calls then Im going to head out.. I might stay somewhere in the area tonight depending on how brave I am.. The woods are CREEPY at night.

    wish me luck!
