Raleigh Show
So anyone going to the Raleigh show this weekend? I know Ive seen maybe two people so far. When are you guys showin up? I'll be there Sun sometime, hopefully I'll see some of you guys in some BP.net shirts or something!
Also, has anyone ever been? This will be my first time EVER going to a reptile/exotic expo (Ive never owned a rep/exotic till Prada which was recent) and have never until now had any interest. Now im psyched! I want to get a beardie and im not sure of what prices will be like...cheaper, more expensive than a pet store or even if they will have any reg ones (I dont need a fancy orange one or anything). Also, the prices of the bp's. I dont need another, I've only got a 10 gallon tank, but you never know what will happen.
So to any of you that have been, are there typically lots of folks/vendors? And are there any breeders from here that you guys know will be there?

Absolutely agree! ... Frankie is good people and someone I consider a friend. I'd take any animal he has available and drop it right into my collection, no questions asked. Stop by his table and say hi ... and don't forget to remind him that he'll be sleeping downwind from Charlie at 8 Ball Fest in 2 weeks ... you'll get a smile out of him for sure.

PigsNPythons and I will be there Saturday morning. Hope to see some people! There are plenty of vendors, and the fall show usually has more selection in terms of my favorite species (BPs of course!). The prices are generally lower than at pet stores, and there should be normal beardies. There are usually a few dedicated beardie breeders there too I believe.
Also, FatBoy, PigsNPythons and I said hi to you at the last show, we will try to stop at your table to say hi again. Must be exciting to be a vendor!!

Re: Raleigh Show
I'll definately try and stop by to say hey! Trying to convince the BF we need another snake but first thing is the beardie. But...who knows! I'll be there tomorrow (Sun) because nobody can go with me today and I hate to go by myself. More fun when you can point things out to people. LOL

Re: Raleigh Show
So I get to go today too! Like...in 10 minutes! Yay!

I didnt even think about it, we meet on Friday. My wife loved the little monkey you had! Anyways, I am sharing a booth with carolina classic dragons, stop by and say hey! Just tell me (Chris) that your from here.

Re: Raleigh Show
I'll be there tomorrow (Sunday). I may ride the bike up there since I only need to pick up some equipment. That would definitiely ensure I don't end up with a stowaway on the way home...

 At the risk of getting an infraction, I will not insert the monkey joke here.
Awesome feeding video by the way. My favorite is the one that constricts all the way up on the tongs. Pre-scenting definitely got me results, thanks...

The monkey was a big hit at the show...Adam, he did start acting up a little near the end of the day and needed a good spanking when we got back to the room, maybe he will behave better today!! :) See you soon.

Re: Raleigh Show
We went to the show Sunday, I saw a LOT of stuff I was interested in (Black Milksnake, Black Pine Snake, Eastern Hognose (Black), Madagascar Giant Hognose and even an adult Russian Ratsnake. The wife would have killed me if I had brought another snake home unfortunately. I really wanted that Black Milksnake! My daughter did get a Leopard Gecko from Lisa's Leos and I picked up some water bowls on the cheap. It's always fun seeing all the critters and meeting the breeders/vendors...

HAHA Spank the monkey, the REAL monkey....I remember him at your booth Fatboy. Liked your setup, seemed you had sold/traded some stuff by early Saturday. I stopped by Saturday right when you were downing one of those $3.75 hot dogs!!!LOL!!! I was scared to ask for the lady to add chili, might bump the price up over $4!!!
I noticed that there were a lot of base line ball pythons there. A few booths had some Lesser pastels, lesser spiders, Silver streak and several Ivorys, Lucys and a wild Mojave with a solid stripe all the way down her back. Saw some good looking Retics and burms! VERY tempted on them!!! Dodged a close one!!!
I would like to see more hobbiest out there though. I can only hope that having the large burms and retics there will show the common public that, "it's not collectors with large snakes that kill people it's irresponsible people with large snakes that kill people."
Support your local Reptile Shows!!!!

Not sure you want to see pics of 8ball Fest...they would definately be banned from this site...lol
-
Re: Raleigh Show
I saw some of those burms that I fell in love with. Took a while to convince the BF to let me bring home a morph for possible breeding reasons (WAAAAY later) and then when I was there and pointing out a tree snake I wanted he was like "Well get what you want" WHOA. He's lucky I know that we dont have space for too many big guys or I would have come home with arm loads.
And I didnt get to see a monkey -sniffle-

Yea...took very few morphs with me. That show is kinda different...lots of parents taking kids to the little zoo thing in the back with no intent on buying snakes. If they do buy they want a $25 pet. I sold and traded some Friday afternoon during the setup also. Traded a pin for 5 breeding sized girls that should breed late this year after a short quarintine. Sold some to other vendors Saturday morning during the VIP time. The black pastel on my display was actually one I bought Saturday early and just stuck him in an open spot and put sold on him. Even with sales low we had a good time meeting everyone. Would have made more money if I could have stayed away from the hotdogs!!

Re: Raleigh Show
Oh wait, I did see it! I heard a squeaking noise and the two of us were trying to figure it out and I think I saw a computer so I fig. it was that. Then, bam, that little thing! I didnt quite know what it was though, but I guess you learn something new everyday!
I saw that black pastel...I was eyeing it when I was at your table but it said sold. Haha. I was looking for a pastel, strangely, when I ended up getting that spider. Thanks again for helping with the sexing. I'm glad I asked about it because I didnt want a girl. I can imagine how hectic it is though when you have to move things around after it closes to move things back Sun, so I totally understand the mishap.
And yes, I have to agree about all the kids. At one point I wanted to rip my hair out because there was this girl that ame running up by me when I was checking out the spider screaming "I want to hold one, can I hold one?!!!!" and squeezing hand sanitizer all over her hands. I was like "Parents?" But anyhow, I bet if you guys go to the bigger places you get better stuff. Not quite sure about Raleigh, doesnt seem to be many people that are interested in herps unless they are at the vet school or in a bio class. But what do I know, I dont get around Raleigh much.

Re: Raleigh Show
The spring show seemed a bit bigger this time. However the BP selection was much better this go around, and a lot of nice morphs out there. I got a gorgeous proven breeder 1300g male pastel for an unbelievable price :D .
There were a lot more BP breeders/hobbyist here this go around than the Spring show. Hopefully it keeps growing. It certainly has gotten better over the years.
And I forgot my camera both days to get a picture of the Jesus Pied from Ben Siegel. Sorry all failed miserably on that one.

Re: Raleigh Show
I got to meet Frankie and his angry little monkey. I'd be mad too if I had to wear those little monkey diapers...
It was good to meet alot of the local breeders. I got all the equipment I went there for, but it seems that when I got home I found a couple of stowaways...:D

Re: Raleigh Show
This expo was very slow and small compared to the spring. Sales very low and tons of kids running around. I dont even think we had the same amount of vendors?

I think all the kids belonged to the people at the horse show. They sent them all to the reptile show to get them out of their hair...
What was up with all the dogs everywhere? Must have been a dog show going on. Couldn't hardly find the reptile building because of all the RV's piled up in there...

Re: Raleigh Show
Just my 2 cents, but I do not think it helped having it on Labor Day weekend. I think both vendor as well customer participation would have been better had it been on a non holiday.
I am in the car business, and last year we were swamped on this weekend. This year though it was like a ghost town. I think a lot of people from around the area went out of town this year. A lot cheaper gas this year as opposed to the nearly $5 / gallon it was last Labor Day.
Thanks to all the vendors who did come though! I as a customer sure did appreciate it, and look forward to the next one.
I do not post much on here, but do read a ton. Most of you might remember me more so for my daughter yesterday than me lol. She was the poor thing with the big pink cast on her arm.

Re: Raleigh Show
There was a dog show in the building that shared a walkway going into the expo. The graham building I think its called
