    Interesting/Sad clutch
Some of you may remember that I posted pics of a Caramel in the egg. Unfortunately it died in the egg. The clutch was DH Glow x Het Caramel. 5 eggs, 1 slug. 2 eggs died around day 30-35. The Caramel died in the egg and damn it was beautiful! The two remaining snakes came out yesterday at day 64. 0.2 66% het Caramel/50% het Hypo. They are amazing looking and it's pretty exciting that both are girls. One has very cool granite spots. The camera battery was dead when I went to take pics so some will be coming shortly! My incubator has been set at about 87.8 or so and I incubated the 2 Caramel clutches on the bottom shelf which is probably 1 to 1.5 degrees lower. Its too small of a sampling to lend any credence to the theory of lower temps, more girls (as someone posted recently). Not even sure that it is in any way valid. I just cut the second Caramel clutch tonight so we'll see what the sex ratio is when those come out. 5 eggs there so possibly a better sampling.

I'm glad you got those two girls out of that clutch, but it sucks about the others. Throwing some good vibes your way for better luck on the second clutch.

It's not valid at all. Sex is genetically determined in ball pythons and has nothing to do with incubation temperatures in any way ... that's a proven scientific fact. ;)

Sorry about your loss bro, it sucks when stuff like that happens.

I understand what science says. I think there has been some interesting talk lately about lower temps and higher female to male sex ratios. I am just trying to contribute my personal findings :gj: ;) Thanks superstar!

Any such findings would be purely coincidental. :gj:

I just tell certain eggs to be female and it works for me.

    Hope this helps-

I had 2 6 egg clutches hatch out a week apart: 5.1 & 1.5 were the ratios so sometimes it does look odd but get a big enough sample size & it seems to balance out. Just to double check within my 4 years of breeding I am 2.5% to the good on females, which again isn't are large enough sample size to state any clear advantage.

One thing for sure, we never stop learning & captive breeding of Regius is still relatively new.

Breeding Ball Pythons is like playing Poker where you get to shuffle and deal but can't look at your hand until everything is said and done, and all bets are in.

I feel your pain brother, and I hate to hear that. Congrats on the 2 girls though, by odds, one of them should make you a Glow, when she gets bigger. How many Caramels are in that second clutch that you cut? Good luck with them.
