    Pied markers?
Hello! I personally don't see any pied markers here, but I'm certainly no expert on the matter, so I thought I'd ask you for your opinions! I really appreciate any help you guys can give! She's being sold as a 50% possible het. Thanks again everyone!

She has pied markers...but as you know that is not 100% as some hets have no marker at all, while some normals can show what look like markers.

Agreed. I have a normal male that has markers, and as far as I know he has no pied relatives. If the price is good you can always try to prove her out. I personally won't pay more for a possible het than I would a normal, because that's exactly what you could end up with... a normal. :gj:

Those are NOT het Pied markers. That is a normal looking belly.

These are het pied belly markers...

Something that most people don't know is, it's not just about the side belly stripes. There are subtle color differences as well. Looks for rich yellow smudging near the stripes as well. This is the one element that goes unmentioned by others.

The OP's snake does not have "het Pied markers".

Is it possible to buy a normal from the pet store and have it be a het for something?

    highly unlikely. extremely even lol

a breeder who sells wholesale could possibly sell his normals to a chain pet store, and might accidentally sell a pos het, but that would be careless, and once again - highly unlikely

u can always buy a normal dinker tho =D
which means theres something irregular about it that proves genetic, but not necessarily a morph. just something about it thats genetic

    EDIT:

just adding a note in case ur one of those people who get defensive ;p
u KNEW they were POS hets, but i havent read about anyone saying they sell their pos hets to pet stores, i just figured ppl do it to get rid of norms and make room for holdbacks ;p

My friend that breeds ball pythons sells his possible hets as normals. He can also spot a het pied very quickly from looking at the snake before he even picks it up. He pinpointed mine without me even hinting to him I had het pieds. I asked him about how he could tell and he showed me what to look for on the snake pattern-wise, color-wise, and marker-wise. Once he explained it to me I had not problem seeing the difference. I would still not completely trust this method, but they do look different.

You also want to see the lines further apart than the OP. Ideally three white belly scales between the black lines.

I've been selling males I was pretty darn sure where het pied to pet stores for years. Lately I also sell the non markered female possible het pieds to pet stores.

Not defensive. I know of several breeders that sell het males and pos. het males and females to pet stores. Like I said, we just don't tell them they are hets and pos. hets. lol. Happens a lot more than you think. You are the first person I've heard of that thinks this is careless.

It's not easy to compete with normals or even het pairs. People don't want to buy lone het males. It just doesn't happen often. Most often they are sold at normal and import prices just because it is nearly impossible to compete with the $15-20 imports. People want cheap snakes.
