Which BEL has higher demand??
Assuming both BELs have the EXACT SAME look and whiteness, which BEL do you think would have a higher demand on the buyer's end:
Mojave/Lesser BEL
Lesser/Lesser BEL (or Butter/Butter BEL)??
Do you think that buyer's would like that their BEL is mixed with a mojave and lesser gene? Or do you think a buyer would rather know that their BEL is pure lesser or pure butter?
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I prefer either super butter, super lesser, or butter x lesser
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I think the mojo lesser bel would come at a bit of a higher demand cause its two morphs in one, and you can actually tell them apart.
I personally would like a Butter x Butter bel or LesserxButter bel. But the issue with the ButterxLesser is you would have a bit of a time trying to tell the lesser offspring from the butters once you bred it.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
If they looked identical, I would want the mojavexlesser more because of the more variety when bred.
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I'm planning on having both one day I like the lesser super best but the mojo super is very cool.
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
personally id rather have supers then you know what your getting in your clutch
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
Pretty much if you had a lesserxbutter ball youd have to call the offspring blessers, because theres no way youd be able to tell them apart.
Id go with lesserxlesser ( or bxb)
Though I have a lesserxrusso...so ill stick with him:P

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
Not trying to hijack the thread -- if this it too OT mods please let me know and I'll make a separate one -- but -- how the heck DO you tell the babies apart if you breed a butter x lesser BEL to a normal, or even another butter or lesser?
I always feel like I know how to tell them apart in pictures, but then the animal turns out to be the opposite of what I thought ... So I think I might have a hard time with that O.o

I couldn't agree more about not being able to tell the two apart... especially if you breed mojave to butter! There's no way in hell I could confidently pick out the lessers versus the butters in the clutch.
I think the safest thing (if you're planning on marketing and selling the babies) would just be to never breed a pair that you couldn't confidently decipher...

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
How about the mojo x mojo , its not even a listed option. I think lessers and butters are cleaner than mojos in most cases. However, Id rather have a super mojo, I like the look of the grey head personally.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I think the Mojo x Lesser BEL would cost less, just because Mojos are not as much money as Lessers. I don't know if the grey head makes a difference in how much money it is compared to a BEL that is pure white with no grey head, but maybe that may be another thing since maybe a BEL that came out of the egg had a grey head would be worth less than a pure white BEL.
Lesser x Lesser BELs, IMO, would be worth more since Lessers are normally worth a lot of money plus (if this makes a difference) the babies would be pure white instead of white with a grey head.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
"Dirty" BELs are definitely worth less money compared to a bright and clean BEL...
Personally, I love a bright clean BEL but I also love the dirty BEL with grey head...
But for comparative purposes, I created this thread with the intention to see if the majority preferred a two gene BEL(mojo/lesser) as opposed to the single gene BEL(lesser) assuming both BELs look equally pretty.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
Man, this is a tough one!
I guess it depends on what people want. As many have mentioned already, some people like supers so they know what the offspring will be. Others like a variety of offspring. As far as I know, Mojave x Lesser and Lesser x Lesser BELs are fairly similar in whiteness, though I'm betting at least some M x L BELs could have a touch of grey on the head.
Thanks for mentioning the Lesser x Butter thing! I was planning on adding a female Butter to my BEL breeder group next year, but I have a male Lesser for her! I never even thought about trying to tell the offspring apart (even though I, too, can't tell Butters from Lessers most of the time)! Looks like I might be getting a Russo instead....

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I like them both in different ways but the super lesser (Butter) would probally sell for more.
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I say the lesser because they are a bit harder to find than mojaves and the BEL out of lessers obviously makes lessers :D

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
Lesser x lesser bels are nice.....but I would like a mojave x mojave bel. Maybe to put with a sulfer.....
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
This is an obvious one--LesserXLesser or ButterXButter. Every baby they produce will be a lesser (or butter). Mojaves are way down in price now, in spite of the fact that they can be as nice as lessers in their own way.

Just a point of order. They are the same gene, just different alleles of the same gene.
Personally I think it depends on what you want to accomplish with the morph. If you want to produce more combination animals it might be better to have a Mojave x Lesser breeder to maximize the different types you can produce, if you want to produce animals that have a higher sale value you might want a Lesser X Lesser Leucy so that that you would produce more Lessers that will have a higher price point. It really all depends on what your goals are.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
Id really like to see a mojavexlesser that compares in whiteness to a lesser/lesser. I really don't think i've seen any that look the same. mojavexlesser just seems to be off a shade or something.
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
i would assume the lesser/lesser... its a cleaner bel...
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I own a Lesser to Mojave and a (bad) pic of it in my gallery. It is pure white. Lessers produce really white snakes. Mojave x mojave produces one with a grey head. Add the Lesser to the mojave and it really cleans it up to a bright white.
I have not seen a butter x butter but i know you can make one. Seems like most breeders use lessers in theyre breeding.
But to answer your question i think its preference. Super mojaves are a little cheaper and i believe the grey head is gaining some popularity.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I think I would prefer to have a Mojave/Lesser Ghost instead of a Super Lesser Ghost.
Since when cross with a ghost, you should have 50% Hypo Mojave and 50% Lesser Ghost :) who are both amazing hehe !
But if it's not for combos, I think I would prefer to have a Super Lesser instead of a Mojave/Lesser.

Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
my female mojave just ovulated yesterday and finished this morning, man im so excited she was bread by my mojave male moe...lol i know not a creative name but ahh.. anyways i think the super mojos are better looking than the all white bells.. they have purple on the head and it darkens as they get older its pretty cool.. so with me luck on some supers and i felt 7 follicles when i palpated so i have 7 chances !!!!
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
I am not a fan of mojos so I would rather have a lesser to lesser or butter to lesser. Mojos look to me like extremely low grade lessers.
-
Re: Which BEL has higher demand??
im going for lesser x lesser..............in a few years........ i have a late 07 0.1 800 gram
and a 09 1.0 125 gram
so maybe next year ................only mother nature knows.............................
if not maybe some lesser bees for know
