Cutie!
But being in college myself and knowing people that did the same, you may want to have a backup plan incase he gets found out, so he still has a home :)
And we never had carpet! You suck. LOL

Re: my setup-pics
yep, i put the the tank in a trash bag and just carried the whole thing in, no questions asked. I would like to try to maybe put some kind of fake plants in the tank, but it might be a little cramped. He is growing fast too, so i will probably need to graduate to a larger enclosure fairly soon

Re: my setup-pics
Is it hard to keep the heat regulated with it sitting on the wire shelf?

Re: my setup-pics
haha mine is a fugitive as well.... i dont have any outlets in my closet though so i dont think he could go there. i'm still strategizing better hiding spots..

Haha, i know how keeping reptiles in the dorms goes.
Looks like a very good setup. Good luck with it!

Re: my setup-pics
keeping the temp steady from the wire has not been a big deal, i have an accurite and a dimmer for my uth so i just use that as a manual t-stat. the temp on the warms side stays at a constant 89-94 degrees. the humidity has been the bigger issue, as well as the ac blasting. my room mate and
i like to keep it cooler in the dorm (69-72 degrees) and with the continuously cycling ac there is very low humidity in my room. I have a large water bowl as pictured and then today i covered the screen top with plastic wrap and punctured 5 half-penny sized holes for ventilation. that has helped a lot, I also put two clumps of damp sphagnum moss in opposite ends of the tank to raise humidity. It feels a lot better in the tank, I can feel the difference from my room air to sticking my arm in his tank; it is much more humid in his tank. I think he might be about to shed as well, so the increased humidity is good. I dont have any outlets in my closet either. there is one next to my closet, so its only about a 4 foot reach and my cord is long enough for that
I am attending kennesaw state university, and they give room inspections once a month. they are "safety and health inspections" and they only look at those kind of things, i.e. fire extinguisher, thermostat, smoke detectors, etc. they do not look in the fridge, drawers, closets, or cabinets. they also give a 3 day advanced notice. I havent told anyone except my room mate because i dont want anyone casually mentioning it and having one of the
RA's overhear that I have a snake in my room.

Re: my setup-pics
Sterilite tub under a bed would work pretty good as they don't really need height just more floor space than anything.

The more cramped the better. They do well in smaller enclosures, that tank will probably last you a while. Most people on here are against large enclosures. If you get a larger tank you will have a really hard time keeping the temps and humidity stable, you will need to provide a lot of hides a clutter in the tank to help him feel secure, they get stressed easily in big open spaces.

good points. I know they are better off in a small enclosure. I know that just from watching him grow since he started eating he has gotten a lot bigger, so maybe in the next 6 months if he keeps growing the way he is, I will need to graduate him. I'm not trying to get him into something bigger too fast by any means. I do not have much money at all to spend on more snake expenses, so i will keep in his setup I have for him now as long as I can. For the plant, I mainly just need a good way to attach it to the tank, I might look into the suction cup method.

Re: my setup-pics
Very nice job on the smuggling!
Glad you've found away to enjoy keeping herps despite the Gestapo. :)

Re: my setup-pics
I too am hiding mine in my room in the dorm she is under the desk with a mini fridge blocking the part that sticks out. Room check isn't very strict here though just a quick look to see if your in and thats it. I also have a 55 gallon fish tank and that usually draws peoples attention so no worries lol! We should start a snake hiding club or something lol!

Re: my setup-pics
A tub would be easier to keep humidity up! I too like tanks better but I only have one snake so it's not too hard! I would have done the same thing. How can you you go the whole year without him? These schools have no sympathy!!! LOL!!!

Re: my setup-pics
it isnt bad maintaining the proper environment. I put plastic wrap on the tope of the lid (there ARE vent holes, no worries) and that totally solved it. its even a little foggy in his tank now (on the glass sides) which is good because he is nearing his shed cycle. I love my bp waay too much not to have him with me for a year. And everyone in my family thinks he is weird and will not feed him :(
