    Super Pastel DOA
I had a 9 egg clutch from a pastel x pastel pairing and I believe I have 2 supers, the best looking one however, also happened to be dead on day 54.

    Here's a pic:

Oh no, what a shame! It was so beautiful, too. Did you ever figure out what exactly went wrong? :(

No, I didn't. The weird thing is I think I have some more supers, but none of them look as extreme as this one. I will know more when they finish their sac's and crawl into the world.

Maybe there was something extra going on with him genetically. Who knows, it might have had something to do with the fact that he died. Good luck with the others, anyway. You deserve some after this.

Some other clutch mates have really light head patterns, but not like this:

Pattern and color are some of the last things to develop. Chances are, this snake didn't develop it's color completely and though it's body looks fully developed it's a bit premature. This could explain the reasoning for such a light snake with such little contrast.

A little help on indentification and odds.
I am new to breeding, so please excuse any rookie mistakes on my part.

I started this thread posting a pic of what looked to be a deceased super pastel.

Now to the stuff that is confusing me.

This was a 9 egg clutch, so I had 1 DOA and 2 normal's, which leaves me 6 eggs, of which 4 clutch mates I have taken pictures of below.

I know a good way to indentify a super pastel is by a lighter head pattern, but I am doubting this because I know the odds for supers from a pastel x pastel clutch are 25% per egg if I am not mistaken and it appears that I have like 5 supers, which I don't believe..

Anyway, those with experience with supers, please lend your opinion on what I have here.

    Clutch mates #4 & #5

    Thanks for your input.

Brandon, I'm no expert on all the different Morphs hitting the market now, but I am experienced in losing one as I lost a Pastel a couple months ago for an unknown reason myself. I share in your loss and it has to be especially frustrating after putting all the hard work into breeding these gorgeous snakes. Keep the faith and for what it's worth, I think the other hatchlings you have are absolutely spectacular and you should be proud to turn out such super looking babies the first time around! Just imagine how the next batch will be!!!! ;)

Sorry about the loss of that little one... he/she looked like a beauty. :(

As for the clutch-mates, I'm no expert, but they look like supers to me! The first one is particularly gorgeous, IMO. :gj:

I'm not seeing enough blushing for supers. The last pic is to blurry to distinguish but the first pic (#2 clutch mate I believe) looks real clean and pretty.
