New Arrival
So I got a new little guy about 10 days ago now, a high red line Brazilian rainbow boa who I've decided to name Sanji because of his distinctive head stripe (Sanji is a character from One Piece with a swirly eyebrow). He arrived in shed on October 9, coiled tightly into a little rainbow ball. For a bit there I thought I was seeing things lol, as his colors got a lot better a few days later, but then he shed soon after. I let him warm up and coaxed him out of his ball to better be able to look him over and he gave me a nice little love bite. Just gaped open his mouth, plopped it on my hand, and gave my fingers a few good chews before letting go. He shed on the 5th day and then took a large fuzzy mouse without hesitation the next day. He's settling in nicely and luckily the tub is maintaining itself with very little effort, the humidity is staying consistently at 99% with the bedding just now starting to dry after about 4 weeks. He also defecated on the 14, which was rather stinky, so hopefully his next poop will be a little better. He seems to come out to explore around 7-8pm when it gets dark, and then retires to one of his hides around 11pm to 12am, and he is active during handling. Not as much as Draco, but more so than Cloud was as a baby.
I also finally went ahead and bulk ordered rodents for everyone, as I would be saving nearly $400/year doing so. So everyone's stocked up for about a year now. I didn't think I'd be able to fit them all in the freezer, but there was some room, I'll just have to keep only a few rabbits for Cloud at a time to keep it that way. Without further ado, here are some photos!
On the day of his arrival:

4 days later (still in shed):

The poop art he left for me after shedding (the wire goes to the thermometer/hygrometer; the flare on the probe was too large to drill a hole for and I didn't want to thread the wire under the lid and sacrifice the security of the tub so it's sitting inside the tub). The flash gives him a slight pinkish tinge for some reason:

Freshly-shed, outside:

His belly is almost see-through in person and pure white with no markings:

Except for his tail:

The only photo I have that shows that stripe, one has a bent end and the other is zig zagged, with three bends:
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...ne-d83616g.jpg
He has some circles on his sides missing crescents, which is cool. You can't see too many of them in this photo, though.

Re: New Arrival
Nice looking Rainbow, I'd like to add one to my collection someday.

This little guy has been wonderful so far. Beyond his ball python imitation when I first take him out, he isn't all that timid. I'm definitely planning on getting another in the near future. If not this year, then next year. I think our warm days have pretty much been used up, so there may not be anymore non-flash photos for awhile. I usually open the main door and take photos next to the storm door, but the glass was knocked out of it. >.> So there's not really any good places to get sunlight photos outside of summer. He arrived here at 40 grams, and I'm excited to see this little guy sprout. :)
Here are a few other photos, that I didn't post. (Once he's up and moving about he doesn't sit still very well - makes it a bit difficult to include his head. haha)

He also has one perfect bowtie on the back of his neck, and a random dot somewhere down his back. lol

He took his second meal with meal without hesitation Wednesday morning. Looks like it may be safe to say he's officially settled in. :) He even spends a decent amount of time out in the open, so all I have to do is look over and I can see him.
Here his around 5pm the same day, with a slight food bulge.

I also managed to find a place that allows some sunlight early afternoon. Navigating snake and camera so that I can take advantage of it, though, is difficult.

Great pics! A BRB is high on my list of "must haves", right behind a jungle carpet.
Has he settled down any for you (in terms of nippiness?)

Mine is great so far, I'd definitely recommend one. :P
Yup. He hasn't bitten me or even gotten defensive since his arrival. Besides curling into a ball when I get him out, which he usually comes out of after a few minutes.
He also has a little turtle near his tail.
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...ne-d83psnr.jpg
At first I thought he didn't have any spurs, but I finally noticed them yesterday. They just looked like scales, so I missed them. XD Unfortunately, they're too tiny to photograph with my cheapish camera.

Re: New Arrival
Very cool looking snake. Love his colors.

I apparently accidentally grabbed too large of a mouse from the fuzzy bag, so it's taking him a little while to digest this mouse. So, to avoid this next feeding, I've separated all the 4 and 5 gram mice from the rest so that I can feed them off first. I'm also going to give him a few extra days from his regular schedule before I feed him again. Apparently some of the fuzzies were as large as 9 to 11 grams, when the range on their website was ~5-7.5 grams. There was only a few that big, though, most were 6 or 7 grams. I'll be keeping a closer eye on prey size from now on.
The bulge is barely noticeable now.

He's started his second shed with me. He's been burying himself for the past few days, so I figured he may be starting a cycle as he hadn't buried himself since shedding his skin. Today he had a nice, pink belly so it's been confirmed.

His white walls are at full power, as it had been dark for over an hour when this was taken.

Yeah, so far all of my snakes are laid back. lol I'm sure I'll eventually hit a more bitey one as I get more, though.
He went opaque a few days ago. I found him under his cool hide and a nice present under his humid hide. Luckily this one wasn't smelly. lol

Here's a feeding pic from Sanji's second meal with me. I was lucky to catch him right at the front of the tub so I snapped a photo.

Sanji's grown in the month or so I've had him. When I weighed him a little over a week ago he was empty and came out to 49 grams, so he'd put on 9 grams over ~month. I weighed him today, 3 days after he ate, and he came out to 53 grams, but I don't think he's empty yet. I do expect him to start shedding again in the next few weeks, so far he seems to be shedding every three weeks and it's been about 2.5 weeks since his last shed now.
Here are a couple of photos of him from before my camera broke.

Well he's grown a little bit more, last I weighed him he was 57 grams, and he's a few inches over 2ft by my estimation (he won't cooperate enough to get an exact measurement, and doesn't flatten out against a wall like Cloud does, but that's what I got with him mostly straightened out, so he may be a bit bigger or smaller).
He's been moved to a larger tub measuring 24 3/8"x15 1/8"x11.5", so he's also got plenty of room for climbing. I just need to figure out how I want to provide perches for him. Right now he has a vine and a small branch, but I'd like something a little better.
Here are some phone photos since my camera is broke (the colors are way way off on PC, so you may see some better colors viewing on a phone).
In his new tub, climbing on his vine.

I had put him in his new tub once I set it up to see how he looked in the tub and get a mental picture of what I wanted to do with the tub. I hadn't yet hooked up the heat, so the bedding was slightly cool and he immediately white-walled. He wasn't in there long, just long enough for me to see. I took Draco's vine to take up room, and I'll be going to go get him a new one. Once that was done, I hooked up the heat and held Sanji while I waited for his tub to warm up.

He decided to be a GTP for a day.

Here are some size comparisons of him in his tub with no decoration, just some bedding (there's a bunch of condensation because it was sitting on top of Cloud's enclosure).

Another of him in his old tub. I felt like he looked a bit cramped in it, and he's been here for 3 months now, so I figured it was time for an upgrade. :)

Re: New Arrival
Looks he's gone into shed again! First noticed signs either Friday or Thursday. He was quite grumpy when I first disturbed him, giving me lots of huffs and shot his head out to stare at me. I saw he was in shed and dropped his miss back on him. When I took this photo he wasn't in nearly that bad a mood, and didn't even huff at me. His last shed was December 26.

He's put on about 17 grams and grown a few inches since I got him in October, and I've also begun feeding him every 10 days rather than 7 with his last feeding.

I agree! I hope to get some more relatively soon, this year if I can swing it.
Did you make a thread for your BRBs that you could link me to and check 'em out?

He also seems to like hanging out on top of his vine at night. He's only really in his hides during the day, he's either cruising around or sleeping out in the open during the night.

I'm at the end of my current shipment and should be ordering some more food soon, so nothing to worry about on that front.

We got our BRB's about the same time and the same size, so I'm curious...
What size are your BRB's now, how often are you feeding them, and what size food?
Also, did both of your's switch to FT easily? I've heard boas in general switch to FT easily but my male simply will not switch...he will only eat live.

New Arrival
I don't know how long he is, but he's right around or right over 2', came to me at roughly 1'10".
As far as weight, he came to me at 40 grams and last I weighed him he was 67 grams, but he could be several grams heavier by now. I'll weigh him in about 4 days and see where he's at now.
I'm currently feeding him 5 gram mice every 10 days, but he was started out on 4 gram mice every 7 days for the first couple of months.
I have not switched Sanji to rats yet as he's not large enough. I haven't really had to switch any of my snakes, because I started the BP and BCI out on rats. But I've been feeding the BP mice lately so I may have a struggle there. And all but the BP was started on F/T so no switch there, either.
(Sorry my phone turned and freaked out the app so I've had to do this in bits because it posted prematurely.)

She's settling in well! Hasn't gotten nippy with me yet *knock on wood* hahah. How old is your boy? I thought my girl would be bigger for five months... She was the second smallest of the litter, though.

Well looks like he's going into shed now. That makes two snakes currently in shed and one that recently shed. Bud is deep in blue right now, but looks like Sanji's at the beginning of his cycle.
I tried to get a good photo of him balled up, but it took too long to get the curtain out of the way and he started crawling around.
