2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
This year I was finally successful in pairing Howl and Dominika! They had 18 healthy babies, 0 slugs or stills. I did get one with a kinked tail, and one with some minor facial deformities, which were pet homed. But I also got some banging holdbacks, that I'll share here. I haven't named any of them yet, as keeping their numbers atm works best while I still have their littermates. I can figure out names and add to notes, but I'm being lazy. lol
The litter was born April 30, so they're just over 7 months old now, and just being bumped to adult mice. They've been fed every 14 days since birth, with only a couple occasions doing 7 days.
First up, my favorite of the bunch. A jungle female, she looks so much like mom. Has pretty cool reddish eyes, and such a pale creamy stonewashed color to her. And she's always been sweet and never struck or bitten me.

And after her most recent shed. Sadly outdoor weather is behind us.

Next up is my second favorite, which is what the above girl would look like if hypo were added. haha She started out as the pissiest baby of the bunch, constantly striking and hissing. Now, she's only mildly distrustful and even sometimes tolerates me in shed. She hasn't bitten in a long time, but has hissed. Honestly my favorite part about this litter were the couple of babies that would hiss and strike at their food, and then hiss the whole time they were swallowing while I fed the rest of the litter. Absolute goofballs.
She has the most insane yellow background to her, and is the cleanest of the 3 hypo jungles I got. She leaves me speechless every time I look at her.

This guy I'm not as sure about, I mainly just have him because I figured I should keep at least one male. haha But he has very strong contrast and popping bold saddles. He is by far the most curious of the litter, he's always the first one at the front of his tub ready to come out, but doesn't rub his face like the one girl who's also active. He's my favorite to handle, and is currently in shed. It's times like this I already miss being able to take them outside, because indoors just isn't the same. He's got a lot less pics than the others because he hasn't shed as much as them, this is just now going to be his 3rd shed, most of the litter has had their 4th already. He's also a pretty thick bodied boi, I love it.
He's the only male out of the litter atm that stands out to me as holdback worthy, I already sent off the only other male I would have kept. He's a clean, classic jungle, but I preferred this guy's darker saddles and stronger buckskin color.

Congrats on a successful litter and great to see you post here again! This place needs way more boa activity...

Thanks! I’m absolutely in love with this litter, I cried when I saw them being born. They’re everything I was hoping for and more.
I do have a couple more to add to the thread, after one of my shifts and when I have the spoons. Haha

I haven’t been a big fan of the chainlinks, but this guy’s color and pop has won me over. And he’s got such a nice demeanor too. [emoji3059]

Thanks! I unfortunately find it difficult to get on the forums anymore, it takes so much time and set up to open my laptop start a thread vs posting on FB or IG. [emoji28] I still need to add a couple snakes to this thread, and then I’ll have to start a thread for the new additions. [emoji13] I added some nice pastels this year!

I don't have Facebook so this is a treat.
FB has a purpose but for snake related topics, I prefer a place like this.
Your boas are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

That's definitely fair! It's one of the few places that gets enough influx of snake discussions to quench my thirst for snake discussions. lmao Forums, especially nowadays, hardly get any traffic.
And thanks! You'll have to keep an eye out for my thread on the new additions as well! There's about as many new additions as holdbacks in this thread, so I probably won't be adding them all at once.

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
Got some updated photos of the holdbacks, unfortunately all photos will have to be indoors for the foreseeable future.
This guy had a fresh shed, about time. Lmao

This girl also had a shed right before this photo was taken.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...62e2fdebad.jpg
The rest, I just felt like taking photos of so everyone had new lightbox photos.

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
To celebrate the move, here are some pics at the new place! I’m debating on moving them to large adult mice within the next few feedings.
Freshly shed, and looking even more like dad:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6ccc2e5155.jpg
Right after a shed and really popping. I knew I made a good choice keeping him out of the 3 jungle boys. [emoji3059] (And may end up keeping one of the others at this point. [emoji3061])
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a68e2371b3.jpg
The other guy, who may be sticking around. Depends on if anyone jumps on him when I post him up again, when I post Nymeria’s litter.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...915e31b8a3.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...96c707dae9.jpg
I still gotta get the other two out once they’ve digested their most recent meal. Both of them have shed as well. Nearly all of my boas went into shed at the same time during the move down. [emoji849] And I unfortunately did get a couple stuck sheds.

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
These pics were taken awhile after, but she had a recent shed as well. Unfortunately it got stuck during the move. [emoji28] But I have most of the babies on EcoEarth now and they’re properly hydrated. Some can handle the humidity down here, some can’t. I also have a big thing of peat moss that may become a more affordable option than EE.

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
I got a couple in shed again. Not this girl, but I was already taking snakes out and she was looking nice. [emoji16] I think I’ve decided to name her Gemma, following Gray Rushin’s Latin name theme with his animals.

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
FINALLY got another shed from this gal! After 1.5 years almost, I finally named all my holdbacks. [emoji23] I kept Gray’s theme of Latin names, so this here is now Eliana! Still a bit thick from a recent meal but I had to get pics while the motivation was hot.

And apparently I haven’t been keeping up with this thread like I thought, so might explain why there haven’t been any replies. [emoji1787][emoji1787]
This was after a fresh shed from this guy, who has now been dubbed Arlo. He weighed in at 231 grams before eating a few days ago (these pics are a bit older than that).

It's only because your snakes (and your photography skills) leave us speechless.

I’m sure [emoji23] luckily there’s always tons of photos. Now, if I remember to post here? [emoji848] That’s a different story.
But next up is this gal, who I have now dubbed Valentina. These are few weeks old, but I swear she’s currently in shed, so if I’m right, new pics are to be expected.
She weighed in at 237 grams before eating.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0a04ca865b.jpg
I still can’t get over how her and her other hypo jungle sister have those odd clear spots (you can see a few spotted here and there in this pic, not sure how obvious it is).

An older photo, also from June.

This gal, who has been named Gemma (not sure if that was discussed in her last post). She’s one of the lighter ones at 203 grams.

I love this litter so much! I can’t wait to see their mom’s next litter. I think that will be her final one. This one was going to be, but I can’t resist seeing what my pastel boy Gengar will do with her ability to produce fantastic offspring. As soon as he’s up to size, I plan to pair. Either this fall or next.

Valentina post shed! I needed sunglasses to look at her. [emoji54][emoji54] Zero editing done here, just cropping. She weighed in at 252 grams.

Arlo also shed, not much change this cycle. He weighed in at 252 as well.

The second heaviest of all my 2022’s. Adrianna shed as well, and weighed in at a respectable 290 grams.

I'm not worried about it- I HAD a boa for many years. I do love them & enjoy seeing yours & others, but for now, that will have to to do. I've had more snakes than I can count over the years-
I'm really liking having more time now to spend with fewer snakes, & I'm a long way from being snakeless, y'know. ;)

Re: 2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks
After what feels like forever, another shed on Valentina! She’s starting to get big black spots like her father. Still a gorgeous snake, and imo the epitome of a hypo jungle.

You can kinda see the biggest spot her near the top of the photo.

I think this was after a shed on Gemma, too. I don’t photograph her nearly often enough! I’ve been thinking awhile she could be jungle, but I’m holding onto hope she’s just misleading like her dad…that head spear has my eye twitching though.

Had to get Adrianna out as well. She’s getting so big, definitely the biggest of the litter still. And that buckskin is out of this world! She looks fake even in person. Lol

Eliana is looking muddy atm, still holding onto those salmon sides a little though. Lol She came in at a lean 219 grams, so time to get her off the rat pups and move up to the small weaned with the others.
I also meant to say Gemma came out to 245 grams and either 32” or 33”. I apparently recorded 3 different lengths for her. [emoji2357] At least one was for a different snake. She just got bumped to small weaned as well.
