NEW CONTEST RULES, PROCEDURES & SUBMISSION LINKS
    __________________________________________________

BPOM, HOTM & POTM CONTEST RULES:

    1. You may
enter all three contests in the same month.

    2. You may only enter one picture per contest.

    3. The picture must be one that you have taken and it must be an animal that belongs to you. (unless otherwise noted for a POTM theme)

    4. Picture sizes must be no wider than 800 pixels. This means you must resample or crop them to appropriate size. Oversized pics will not be accepted and in the event they are erroneously included will be removed.

    5. Only ball pythons can be in the picture for Ball Python of the Month (BPOM).

    6. Herp of the Month (HOTM) entries can be any other reptiles, amphibians or arachnids.

    7. Photo of the Month (POTM) theme changes each month, please watch for announcements for current monthly theme/rules.

    8. If you won any of the previous month's contests you may not enter the same contest the month immediately following your win. You may try again the next month using a new picture. Winning pictures are not eligible for resubmission in future contests.

    9. BPnet reserves the right to remove any photo deemed inappropriate for our forums (not family-friendly or otherwise inappropriate).

    10. Ball-pythons.net staff are not eligible for entry in contests offering prizes.

    11. Persons entering contests must be regular contributors to BP.net. This means a minimum of 10 posts in the last 30 days. This post-count does not include classified ads or “gallery posts” in which you post only to show pictures of your animals.

    12. Entries must not be digitally enhanced except for basic cropping, resizing, and/or a simple border. Watermarks are allowed, with limitations. (see next point)

    13. Watermarks may contain the photographer’s name or basic logo to show ownership of the picture, but may not contain business name or Internet address. (Remember, these contests are to celebrate the diversity of wonderful pets our members care for. Please understand that they are not for advertising your business and plan your watermarks accordingly.)

If you submit an image that is not accepted because of these rules, a PM will be sent explaining why. Please feel free to respond with any questions or concerns you might have. Good Luck and we hope to see your picture/pictures in the contests. If you have any questions regarding these rules, please contact a BPnet staff member to further assist you.

BPOM, HOTM & POTM CONTEST PROCEDURES:

To enter contests follow these simple steps:

    1. Ensure your pictures are no wider than 800 pixels. Pictures exceeding this size limitation will not be accepted.

    2. Ensure the picture was taken by you of a pet that belongs to you.

    3. To enter the BPOM (Ball Python of the Month) Contest follow this link http://www.ball-pythons.net/gallery/upload.php?&c=7 to upload your picture. Make sure the category remains Current BPOM Entries.

    4. To enter the HOTM (Herp of the Month) Contest follow this link http://www.ball-pythons.net/gallery/upload.php?&c=8 to upload your picture. Make sure the category remains Current HOTM Entries.

    5. To enter the POTM (Photo of the Month) Contest follow this link http://www.ball-pythons.net/gallery/upload.php?&c=11 to upload your picture. Make sure the category remains Current POTM Entries.

    6. Uploaded pictures may take several days to appear in the contest gallery. If you do not see your entry after 7 days, please send a PM to JLC. All eligible entries WILL be included in the contest, even if they didn't appear in the gallery before the contest was posted.

    7. The cutoff for submissions is midnight (EST) the last day of the month. No entries will be accepted after that time.

    8. The following day polls will be posted and will run for 6 days (weekends and holidays included).

    9. You may vote ONCE in each poll. If you attempt to vote more than once using an alternate account or otherwise attempt to unfairly influence the outcome of the voting you will be banned from the site.

    10. Winners will be announced at the closing of the polls and the winning photos will then be updated on the site homepage.

    11. For the remainder of the month winners will also now be identified by a custom title under their name reflecting their win.

    12. In the event prizes have been donated for that months contest the winners will provide in PM their mailing address for delivery of said prizes.

NOTE: This site's ability to award prizes relies solely on contribution from our members and supporters. As a not-for-profit community website we are not able to fund prizes for each month no matter how much we might wish to do so. Prizes in these contests should be viewed as the exception, not the rule. We hope you are as excited as we are about having them but also hope in the months there are none that you'll not be dissapointed.

An after thought just occurred to me...

If when you upload your pic, you do not have the minimum of 15 posts for the month in which the pic was submitted for, thats fine, you have the time to acquire them. However, before I set up contests, I will be checking, if you do not have the minimum post count (15) for the month, your picture will be deleted out of the contests.

For this months contests, if any have to be removed, I will pm you regarding this to inform you why it was taken out, however, for any following months, you will not recieve a pm. We are trying to allow for all of you to get use to the change in rules. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Also, you may refer to this sticky for the rules at any time, and it is availbable to new members as well.

    Re: Contests: Rules And Procedures
Just wanted to bump this up, as I have noticed several new ppl submitting more than one photo to the same contest, when the rules state one photo per contest, also wanted to remind you, if you do not have the minmum post count by the time polls are ready to go up, your photo will not be included. This should not get you to post in alot of threads with little content in your posts, remember: QUALITY OF YOUR POSTS DO COUNT FOR POST COUNT MINIMUM, PICS AND CLASSIFIED ADS DO NOT COUNT. Please see above rules for clarification on our policies.

The recent revision of forum image posting guidelines are now in effect for contest entries as well. Entries no longer have to be resized down to 640x480. The only restriction is that they must be no wider than 800 pixels!

    Happy submitting!

We are still accepting submissions for January in all three contests.

The POTM contest theme this month is "Kids & Herps". So photos of your children with your herps.

Zoo Pictures! Any picture you've taken of critters at the zoo. (Or zoo-like parks such as Sea World or a wildlife refuge)

The current month's theme can always be found in the box that shows last month's winning picture. ;)

Yep....every month. This month's Photo-of-the-Month theme is "Creepy Crawlies"...which means bugs and arachnids and critters of that sort. Ball Python and Herp of the month also still going strong!

You can see each month's winners on the "home page" of the site. :)

Keep in mind that while might not see any pic at the moment this does not mean that none were submitted. Some probably have been submitted and are now awaiting approval.

Thanks for fielding the question, Deb!!

That being said....as of tonight, all images that can be validated have been. If anyone submitted pictures and didn't have one show up in the current albums, you should have received a PM explaining why.

The end of the month is coming fast, and we haven't had very many entries...especially for the HOLIDAY themed POTM! So y'all get your pictures in!!

I'll be leaving out of town very early Monday morning and won't return until the following week....so y'all be patient for any new images to be validated. I promise, any entry that qualifies and is submitted before Midnight of the last day of the month WILL find its way into the polls, even if it doesn't make it into the contest albums right away.

The only contest that has a monthly "theme" is the Photo of the Month...which you can see listed in the winner's box on the home page...as well as a monthly theme update stickied here in the Site Info forum.

BPOM (Ball Python of the Month) and HOTM (Herp of the Month) are both just what they say. Pictures must be taken by the person submitting them, and of animals that you actually own. (You can't submit animals from someone else's collection, shows, zoo pictures or wild herps, etc) These pictures can be funny or cute or hot or whatever you'd like to show off so long as they fit within the rules and the category.

Hope that answered your question! :)

I tried uploading a photo last month, but I guess it never got approved, because it wasn't in the contest.

I uploaded a photo on 10/31/12 and I still don't see it in current entries. Am I missing something? I have done the photo contests in the past...but not for a while!
