    New Snake Day! MBK
Just picked this little girl up. I'm pretty excited. I've wanted one for a long time but for whatever reason it didn't happen.

Nice pick up! How's her temperament so far? They are supposed to be all around awesome snakes.

I have a buddy who has one, but haven't had a chance to meet him yet. I can't wait.

She is so fast and darty. Always cruising around the enclosure and burrowing. Lots of attitude as well. I gave her a large fuzzy this afternoon and she mauled like she hadnt eaten in weeks. It's been a while since I had such a small snake.

Aside from feeding her last weekend and changing water I haven't been bothering her. She is all over her enclosure and seems to be adjusting well. I'll get another couple meals in her and see how she reacts to handling. So far so good!

I held her for the first time tonight. She did pretty well. Didn't bit me or musk on me. She seems to be settling in well. I did switch out her substrate from reptile prime to aspen so I could see her better. When she comes out of quarantine she will go in a T3. cant wait!!!

    Looking cute.

I use contrasting substrate depending on snakes colour. They’re probably cursing at us for reducing their camouflage ability.

You are probably right on some level. lol She spends a lot of time burrowed. If you look at the underside of her enclosure it kinda looks like an ant farm. She has her tunnels that she moves around in. It's pretty cool.

She got out of her tub sometime between last night and this afternoon. I was able to find her pretty quickly. She was under a small entertainment center not 5 feet from her tub. The only place I can think of that she could possibly get through is the ventilation holes in the tub but that's a real stretch. I think she would have damaged herself trying to get through. They are all about half as big around as her body. The lid is very tight and zip tied on one side and clipped on the other. I'm going to have to figure out another enclosure solution for her.. Such a little escape artist! lol

Oh boy she sure is. I caught her again in the act!! She was 3/4 of the way out. I cannot believe she could fit through such a tiny crack without hurting herself and why she waited a whole month to try to get out. I clamped it all the way around. I hope it holds her until I can get something different set up tomorrow.

Tubs have just enough flexibility for some snakes...you really have to be careful. I'm SO glad you caught her so quickly & I do hope she's ok internally-
they can & do hurt themselves sometimes in escapes like this. I had a hatchling (albino Calif.) king snake even escape from a store-bought glass terrarium
with a sliding screen lid: the lid was held in place by a peg, but the placement of the hole for the peg allowed a small bit of wiggle-room, just enough for a
tiny king snake to follow the track around the screen top out! :O I found her pretty fast, hiding in a boot in a nearby closet. As you now know, once they
find a way out, they remember it & do it again...:snake:

I put together a tank for Hela today. Srry for the crappy pics. I just snapped them quickly with my phone. It's a 20 long which should be just fine for a while. I put some brown construction paper on the back and sides so she wouldn't feel so exposed. She is in shed right now so I put a humid hide in there for her. She loves to cruise through those PVC tubes. She's like a little circus snake sometimes. lol I'm really enjoying her. I feel a lot better that she is in a more secure enclosure now.

You know, I can remember wanting an indigo snake, & yeah, they're awesome, but they've got nothin' on MBK's, IMO. I've kept MBKs in the past, and
their size is SO much better for a pet, not to mention they don't make near the mess that indigos/kribos do. I know big snakes are impressive in their own
way, but I'd rather have an MBK any day...they're active, they eat and handle well, & just so gorgeous.

Hela is doing well. She is still an eating machine. She is still pretty high strung and doesn't much like to be held. She isn't a biter but she slings musk everywhere when you touch her. lol Really pretty though. She is getting big!

Hela getting bigger! She has finally settled down as well. She doesn't musk anymore and doesn't mind regular handling. As long as she isn't in shed. When she is in shed she is in full drama queen mode. lol Really enjoying this one!!

It's an accurate description!! When she is blue and I don't know it, as soon as I take the top off her enclosure she will fling herself around inside her hide and sling musk everywhere. She is quite the actress!!!

I cleaned enclosures today so I snapped a couple pics of little Hela. She did not want to be photographed. She is going into shed so she was in diva mode more so than usual.
She is starting to get some size even though you can't tell in these pics. Stretched out she is a tad longer than the length of her 20 Long. She has been so much fun. More "personality" than any other snake I've owned. lol

Hela is growing!! She has also calmed down quite a bit. She responds quite well to handling now. I've been feeding her a small adult mouse every 10 days or so. She is a really fun snake! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...23719fc593.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0f9713d27f.jpg
