2022 Boa Additions
2022 was a productive year for me to gather a small group of breeders. :D I added 7 new quarantines, and will likely add some more in 2023. For now, let me introduce the ones I got this year!
It took me way too long to get this post up because I had to edit all these photos so they weren't so washed out. lmao
First up is Aleister, an RC pastel hypo jungle het Kahl, straight from RC himself. He's been my fastest grower despite eating the same prey size as the others on the same schedule, and being larger than them. He's shed for me 3 times already, and just got moved up to small adult mice with the majority of my other 2022's.
One of the first pics I took of him. It's kind of a mucky pic, but he was also in shed at the time, and taken with a different camera than I use nowadays.

Once he shed and I was able to get my first outdoor photos.

A little later, but no new shed yet.

A little after his next shed.

No shed, just another fired up day.

And these were the last pics I got before the weather turned.

Yes! The app is really convenient. A lot of these photos aren’t on my phone anymore, so gotta work them on the laptop and upload here to introduce them, but once they’re caught up I can post pics through the app as I take them. [emoji16]
Of course, now it wants to give me problems uploading pics. [emoji849] Keeps giving me an error message, and I had to make some of the pics smaller. Even then it took a few tries just to add these pics.
Speaking of, updates on the RC guy. [emoji16] Currently on 15-18 gram small adult mice, but thinking of moving up to ~20 gram mice soon. He’s one of the longest, but slenderest of my 2022’s.
Post-shed!

And my bf (with normal sized hands) holding him.

Wow, that's quite a change-:D

Alright, finally introducing Gengar. The pics have all been edited, but they still look so pale and washed out on my laptop. He's my normal pastel boy, and is Dominika's grandson. His dad is an RC pastel, and mom is EBV red group x salmon x Keller x Summit. These aren't the most recent pics, just what I've got on my laptop. Once he's up to size, I plan to pair him with Dominika. Hoping fall of 2024. I can only imagine the potential in this pairing. :D
Some pics from when I first got him, he hadn't even had his second shed yet!

https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/hU3y4r3.jpg
This was a little bit after his first shed, and after a meal. His first fired up phase, and quite the difference! He didn't really pop until I got him outside, seeing him indoors didn't prepare me for what he looked like outside.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/qSclDns.jpg
This photo is totally untouched, I just put the camera on full zoom to capture as much of his true color as possible.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/1WGdRBR.jpg
I don't think I actually edited this one either, so this is what I was trying to correct on my laptop. On my laptop, a lot of the photo is just washed out and hard to see, not much contrast, and no depth to color. On my phone it looks a lot better.

Fired down again:

A different day, again fired down.

And deep in blue:

I can’t wait to see just how outrageous he gets. [emoji16] His dad didn’t look like this at his age, and he ended up amazing.
Picture credits to his breeder, Corey Padilla.
Dad as a baby:

Dad as an adult:

His mom, the absolute jewel of Rushin’s career as he told me when we were figuring out sales, which led me to getting Dominika:

And his mom’s dad, Alberto (photo credit Gray Rushin). You can see his influence heavily in his grandson.

And to fix what I said earlier. Richard Ceniceros actually produced my guy’s dad, Corey took the photos and produced *my* guy.

So vibrant already! With such a consistently impressive lineage, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how he grows up.

Re: 2022 Boa Additions
Most recent pics of Daemon. [emoji3059] Despite starting out with some prey size sensitivity, he’s been able to move to larger prey no issues now. I have him on the same large mice or rat pups as the other 2022’s, and he’s finally hitting a growth spurt and catching up to the others.

Finally, another update on Aleister. [emoji16] He got a jumbo mouse this feeding, after a few days, really fired up. Still has a bit of a bulge. I’m not sure if I need a new thermostat, or new heat tape, but that entire rack stays colder than the other rack despite now being set 4 degrees higher.
I plan to pair him to Nymeria next breeding season, make some nice RC pastel Kahls. [emoji16]🥹 And I better get albinos in that pairing because one of his parents is a visual albino, so he’s a guaranteed het.

Re: 2022 Boa Additions
Daemon all freshly shed, and decided to be very sassy during this photoshoot. Gave me a full body hiss and swat, then spent the rest of the photo shoot staring at me. [emoji849]

Also, turns out his dad proved out het Kahl! So he’s 50% het.

Thanks! It’s hard not to fall in love with boas, there are so many unique looks! Even the same morph can look vastly different, let alone normals. And their behavior is what hooked me the most initially, too. A lot of them are so aware, and you can actually watch the gears turn in their head and watch their eyes take everything in.
Definitely got projects to pursue and look forward to sharing them here. [emoji16] As my current females hit ~5, things should definitely spice up!

Oh yeah, she’s one of the handful noodles lol She’s also changed the least out of all of them.
I guess those were all the most recent pics. [emoji1787] Her and my other 2022’s are currently on large weaned rats. A few are nearly onto smalls already, which is easier to do now that I raise my own rats. I don’t have to wait for them to be able to eat larger smalls to make use of a pack online, I can just bump the gram weight I cull at.

Yes, definitely get him! Boa constrictors are my favorite group of snakes by far, they’re super rewarding. [emoji16]
And thanks, gotta love pastel lineage. Haha

ENABLER ALERT! ;) @ Mistery510- nothing personal, & I love your enthusiasm, but many snake owners later regret adding too many snakes too fast. Just sayin. They all deserve attention, proper housing, regular cleaning, & medical care when they have issues. Before you know it, too many becomes "work".

Yup, that’s definitely some to keep in mind for sure. Between the rats, mice, and all the boas, it is definitely like a second job. You gotta have the passion to keep it going. (Tbf the rats take up like 80% of the work, without them it would be a lot less strain but 3x the money to buy outright.) I am not aware of the user though so if they seem to have gotten a bunch quickly, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to wait for the current ones to reach adult sizes first before thinking about more.

Fresh shed on Jinzo, and he’s finally hitting that jungle buckskin! I’m not sure how obvious the pics are, but the last one shows it the best.

Lol I've got my 6 snakes. I'm good for a long while. Plus I don't have room for anymore lol.
