Why ASF's
I was wondering if it is such a good idea for people to be offering ASF rats to there bp's with intentions of selling.
I personally will not buy a bp feeding on ASF's because they are pricey and hard to find sometimes.
I guess what i am trying to say is are they worth feeding if you are trying to breed snakes.
P.S. I am not downing anybody or saying it is wrong to feed ASF rats.

Re: Why ASF's
I would not feed a snake im trying to sell asfs, its not a smart business move imo. I feed asfs because they seem cleaner to me and they dont really fight back when the snake strikes them, so theres less chance of causing an injury to the snake.
One more reason i would feed asfs is for hatchlings, you can feed an older asf to the hatchling than you could a regular rat.

Re: Why ASF's
My whole collection is on ASF's anything I trade or sell will start off on mice. ASf's are great they stay a manageable size and don't smell you barely know they are there. There drawback is growth rate.

Re: Why ASF's
thats basicly the only draw back i have, you need a butload of them

Yea, i think i will just stick with rats. I have never had a problem getting anything to feed on them

Re: Why ASF's
The breeder I bought my snake from fed ASF's to her snakes and they feel there is no imprinting risk. However, they do start off any hatchlings on mice just in case I guess

Re: Why ASF's
I mix and match. All my snakes eat ASF's Mice and Rats. Frozen or thawed.
When the snakes are hatchlings i start them on ASF hoppers because they always eat them. After the snakes have eaten several meals i switch them to adult mice F/T. Some eat some dont. If they dont take to the mice right off they get another ASF. Eventualy they will take the F/T mouse. I dont do any prescenting.

So do you freeze the ones you offer frozen in something round and smooth so the snake can get the Rat Popsicle down easier :D
I bet their stomaches are awful cold afterwards. ;)
