    Scale profile: lesser platinum
    Translation? Extreme close up! :D

I got a set of extension tubes in today and have been playing with the blasted things as well as the camera all day. So I thought I would pull out one of the little ones for a quick photo shoot, to see how close I could get.

Little guy did not like the flash (even though I was bouncing it) and he hissed at me when I picked him up to put him back. Oh, and I do realize I probably over processed this image, but that is what happens I guess when you stay up past 2am editing photos.

I think the processing is fine, love the contrast. The WB is a bit yellowish on my monitor though. Maybe it was intended?
    Great pic nevertheless

Great looking pic! What body, lens, and tubes are you using? I'm looking at getting a new macro lens for my nikon and was considering getting some tubes as well.

    Thanks
My set up includes (go get a cup of coffee, LOL)

    Camera: Canon 30D
Lens: canon 50mm f/1.8 II stopped down to f/8
    shutter speed: 1/125 sec
    ISO 100

    and where things get interesting...
Kenko extension tube, I believe I used the 12mm.
Flash, canon 430ex with diffuser sitting on the table about 18" away pointed up toward the ceiling (bouncing it). The flash was tripped remotely via a Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter.

One thing to keep in mind about tubes is, they will reduce the amount of light which means you need a longer exposure and or flash. The focusing distance is very short and may be too short to use the cameras on board flash or even mounting a flash gun in the hotshoe.

I don't notice a yellow, but it could be there, I did bounce the flash and it may have hit the light tan wall as well as the ceiling. Or perhaps I boosted the contrast too much?

    :)

    Thanks everyone.

Would anyone be interested in seeing a full 1:1 crop (by 1:1 crop, I mean a small section at 100% pixels) ?

Currently looking at getting the Nikon Sb-600 or Sb-800. I have some diffusers and tricks I can do with my current flash but looking to upgrade.

Exactly;) I run into this with macro lens filters and had to work around it with bouncing and diffuising. Thanks, I've been getting alot more into photography over this past year and like seeing what others are using and their different setups. I'm currently working on upgrading a couple of lens and a flash.
