ok so I recently got a male albino and female pastel from a local breeder. And well after the fact, he just called me today and decided to tell me that the pastel was locked up with his spider, and then about a couple months ago she was locked up with the albino I purchased from him. So I go in my room and palpate her. I have never done this before but I attempted to palpate and I felt 4-6 marble sized lumps around 2/3rd the way down her body. And now the thing is..... She is only 1040g. So what do I do because I know there is a risk of having an under weight pregnant bp going eggbound. I am actually trying to return her but if that does not work out what should I do? Is there something a vet can do, like an abortion? Or should I just ride it out and see what happens????? PLEASE HELLPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who told you that a 1040g snake would become egg bound? That is a perfect weight for a breeding female. You will just get a few less eggs from her. Anyway, keep breeding the albino to her and have Fun!

Many, many people on these forums advocate a minimum of 1500 grams for breeding bp females, specifically because of the increased risk of becoming eggbound from underweight breeding. It is a fact that it is statistically more likely for a 1000 gram female to become eggbound than a 1500+ gram female.

That said, I'd say get yourself an incubator and see if you can't hatch out some eggs, people do successfully breed females at weights less than most will recommend.

Just keep feeding her! Offer as often as possible! Don't bother seeing a vet, they're not going to be much help in a situation like this.

Shes already half way there. Keep it up and see if you can't double your odds!

You could possibly get bumblebees, spiders, het albinos and pastels het albino!

You are actually sitting on a potential goldmine with her. The possible combinations of hatchlings you could get are unbelievable! I wish I had your luck! I recommend you get set up QUICKLY and get ready to hatch yourself some gorgeous little Ball Morphs! ;)

    Hi,

Not to be a damp squib or anything but surely if you can still feel folicles then is not garuanteed to lay anything?

To be honest at that size I would not introduce any new males to her - if the lock ups she had prior to you getting her took then you just have to deal with any possible consequences.

Either way you weren't responsible - but if you keep pairing her up and things turn out badly then you very well might be.

Keep her feeding routine going, watch her behaviour, and leave it in the lap of the ball python gods.
