Re: other
there are others but the two you mentioned are the safest and most humane. i would stick with those if i were you. in the past i have heard of ppl snapping necks and severing spinal cords. personally i like to use Co2, its pain free and very humane.

Re: other
No to the stun guns.
CO2 is the most humane. Breaking necks IF done correctly can be a fast death as well. But you have to know HOW to do that correctly, or it is a long death as well.

Re: other
In large farm animal slaughterhouses, many incorporate electric shock into the process.
Stun guns however are NOT to be used for this. Stun guns deliver a low-amperage high-voltage electrical shock. As the saying goes, "volts hurt, amps kill". You can be giving a mouse a 100,000 volt electrical shock and not necessarily kill it. You gotta get the amps up for it to be a quick, efficient, and humane method of euthanasia.

Re: other
Breaking the neck is pretty fast, takes like 2 seconds. If i only have a few that I need to cull off thats what I do.

oh i see. sorry bout that kust like sir mainbutter said some electric guns are used to kill some pigs and cows. its widely used here in our country. we tried snapping the neck one time and we really didnt like the way it felt and we did it 4 times before doing it correctly.

Re: other
well there is the baggie vs wall technique, the spinal severing technique, the C02 technique and the flick technique. To be completely honest if your going to go for the fastest I would say the spinal severing would be your best bet. Lots of people here use the C02 way and honestly I see nothing humane about suffocating an animal to death. ( ever seen the first Resident Evil movie? Remember the part where the Red Queen filled the chamber with c02? .. yeah.. that did not look like a pleasant way to die.) And to say that they just "fall asleep" simply isn't true. I've never done a whippit and I never will but thats pretty much what you are doing to the poor animal. ( My friend huffed some duster and ran his car straight into an apartment building) I used to use the flick way but it DOES NOT work on rats. So here's how I was taught by my herpetology teacher, take your hemostats on either side of the neck hold tightly, Then with a quick and fluid motion grab the base of the tail and pull away from the body. This will separate the head from the spinal column. NEVER pull the end of the tail as you could "De-glove" AKA rip the skin of the tail off. None of these ways are "humane" but in the end we have to do whats best for our animals. Yes its sad, but in the end they are prey.
