new to breeding, where would i study
hi i am wanting to start learning the genetics and breeding part of ball pythons. I have had bps, but just started to want to learn more about them. Where would you suggest looking to learn as much as possible about the genetics and the breeding process of it. Like you people that know it very well how did you learn?
Re: new to breeding, where would i study
Look around in all the breeding and genetics posts here, the people on here are realy helpful when it comes to learning. Also just use any search engine, and type in ball python breeding, there are a lot of breeders who put care and how to sheets on their sites.
Re: new to breeding, where would i study
ok thank you oh and what is this stuff i see like 1.1 spiders and 0.1 honeybee etc.... what does that mean
Re: new to breeding, where would i study
The 1.1.1 Means one male. One female. one unsexed or the 1.1 Spiders is one male. one female spiders. so 0.1 Honey Bee is one female.
Hope this helps

ok thank you guys very much
Re: new to breeding, where would i study
Alright rocky...
Jamie Lynn said to search "Ball Python breeding"; these are my first results:
http://www.constrictors.com/Informat...sBreeding.html
http://www.kingsnake.com/ballpythonguide/
You don't want to know how many people have asked what the numbers stand for, and I've only been on this forum for a few months.
I do a forum search on the keyword "Numbers"
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/searc...earchid=810955
Please be considerate and just do a google search, a forum search, and especially look at the stickies. The sticky on genetics on this website really helped me.

Rocky, start here:
http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=16938
It's the first thread on page 160 of the BPnet Breeding Forum. Read from there, back to page 1. By the time you get through it, you'll have all the answers you need.
Re: new to breeding, where would i study
I would also reccommend two great books.
"The Complete Ball Python" by Kevin McCurley
and
"Ball Pythons-Pythons of the World, Volume 2"
by David and Tracy Barker
Great books with killer info and pics.
A must have for any serious ball python person:gj:
