    GREAT - More Legislation!
    Quote:

Blumenthal, the attorney general, sent letters to legislative leaders and DEP Commissioner Gina McCarthy, asking them to support a proposed law that would ban all potentially dangerous exotic animals, such as chimpanzees, crocodiles and poisonous snakes, from being kept in a residential setting in Connecticut.
From this article related to the chimp that was killed here the other day.

Man good luck for anyone in CT, I'm told that CT tends to be a pretty ridiculous place politically.

Liberals don't have anything to do with it. Florida isn't exactly a liberal state you know...

I tell ya, they are always hating on poisonous snakes! Good thing they don't talk much about the vemonous ones. :D

Why do all the bad keepers get news articles, and help support more legislation and yet all the good ones don't? One would think that by now a reporter(s) would see an interesting story that is about all the good keepers and how places like Petco are giving out false info on how to care for such exotic animals. Anyways, that is just my :2cent:, perhaps we should (as a community) try to shed some light on the good things about this hobby.

Before you speak, you might want to know what your talking about.

Because it's pretty clear from that statement, that you don't. :colbert:

theres nothing wrong with this type of legislation... just the defination of "dangerous exotic animals"... take what happened in californa this week, a lady's freind was brutally attacked by her pet chimp! from what i heard the chimp went berzerko and ripped off the poor womans face!!... if anything i beleive you should need a license to own any exotic animal and have to pass a test to obtain it ... it would weed out all the impulse buys that leave the helpless animals in shelters or worse out in the wild where they would become ferral and destory the natural ecosystem if they even survive !

That was CT not CA. Read the article.
    It happened in Stamford.
That attack is what sparked the AG to want to get something done about "exotic animals".
How about the fact that the woman gave the chimp Xanex before the attack? That was STUPID! Now because of her stupidity giving a chimp meds NOT prescribed for it, the rest of us who properly care for out animals will suffer.

I am with you. I am from CT and it is ridiculous. They tax the snot out of you then they don't have the man power to plow the roads when it snows. I just don't get how they can waste money on this legislation when they can't afford the essentials.
