Re: lexan
i never used it but its basic properties are stronger, more durabable then pexi glass and also more $$$$ in my expirence... personally i would/ will use plate glass over pexi or lexan for a cage cause its more scratch resistance and cheaper .

Re: lexan
I use plexi on some of my enclosures and find it gets scratched to easily, for my other enclosures I us a 5 mil glass and it works great and is very sturdy.. As for the headlight thing.. Wow do I feel sorry for you... I just replaced my headlight and it only cost $100.. By chance are your headlights made of gold...lol Take care..

Re: lexan
well the glass windshields are made of is call tempered glass, u cant cut the stuff and generally costs alot more then plate. and if by chance tempered glass broke itd be a bigger mess lol ... i think if u went with 1/8'' plate ud be find .. thats what im putting in my new cage im making... but if u already got the lexan use that it wont scratch as easy as plexi.

Re: lexan
I'm on the same side of the fence with plate glass. No scratching and I've never broken any. Just ask for double-strength and you'll be set. I use 1/4" because it's even a little stronger, but that's just what I like. Still not as expensive as lexan or plexi.
