Good luck, keep us updated.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
Good luck.
I'm glad that I never got hooked on tobacco, but had other indulgences all through college. Quit a few months before graduation, and haven't had any problems at all for over half a year.
Quitting isn't too hard(SUCKS a ton, but not actually hard.. if that makes sense) if you actually want to do it. Wanting to quit is the hard part, some people think they do, but most don't.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
You can do it ;), the hardest are the first 2 weeks while you are being weaned of the nicotine.
I quit back in November 2005 after smoking for 16 years :O so I am sure you can do it, good luck.

They are cigarettes that will go out if you just leave them to burn. It cuts down on fires from people falling asleep with a smoke in hand. They are sold in NY.
Good luck quitting. I quit a little over a year ago and still get the craving. I can also smell one burning a mile away.

I quit on 1/1/09. Ita a bitc.... 2 packs a day. I used the patch for 2 weeks then I tried a day with out the patch and I was fine so I stoped using them. I still want one but im stayin strong. At $7.00 a pack in NY its a good reason to quit.

Im in the exact same boat. Its weird how the craving is still there more then a year later. I can smell tobacco smoke on anything too, I can pretty much tell who is a smoker and who is not from the smell. That's why I kinda of wish they made smoking illegal so I would have less temptations.

Good luck! Ya'lls don't want me quit smoking... I have a BAD Temper and some reason cigs are the only thing that calms them. For you that say go to the doctor they have pills. I don't go to doctors unless I'm dieing or feel like I am.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
Diz,
I quit smoking almost three months ago cold turkey. You just have to step back and think about all of the positives that come out of quitting. I bought myself this really, really cute Kathy Van Zeeland purse the day I quit to remind myself of the kind of money I would save each week. It was awesome. I've bought more books. I've been able to add things to my snake collection that I couldn't afford beforehand because of smoking. The money alone is worth it.
I also just got over strep. The pain on my throat was almost unbearable. When I finally ponied up to see my doctor, she told me straight up that I would've been in tears through most of it if I still smoked. My tonsils were kissing, it was so bad. She also told me that my lungs were healing. I'm a chunky girl, and it was hard to breathe, I'd get winded really quickly. Once I stopped smoking, it got so much easier. I'm losing a lot of weight.
My clothes don't smell like smoke anymore, and I get almost...irritated at other people who smoke now. O_o Sorry guys. I got my sense of smell back.
The point I'm trying to make is that instead of taking baby steps, take a leap of faith on yourself. Trust that you have enough will power. Trust that you're stronger than you think. I drink a lot of tea now, and peppermints, gum, anything I can stick in my mouth definitely helps.
I still snap at people on occasion. Okay. A lot. O_o But those anger issues were there before I started smoking. Smoking was a crutch for me. It is for you. Be stronger than that. You're not alone. Be strong and kick butt! I know you can.
