My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
Ok, i just picked up my first boa yesterday. i have several BPs, but somethin about a boa just gets me. I traded a Het Albino Male BP for him. I did some research before i got him. And i was looking at several online, but i held one at a local pet store and he was just a great snake to handle, more docile than any of my BPs IMO. But..... she told me he was a Central American RTB, which would make him BCI? Correct? I looked at all the caresheets nd FAQs on here before i got him, and i saw where it said BCI typically have saddle markings like () () (), and BCC is {} {} {}. To me he looks more like {}, but then near his tail is more ()? i know it says its not a sure fire way to tell, but what do you guys think he is? Is there a chance she was wrong? She didnt seem to convincing when she was telling me about him.
And, she said he hadnt eatin in a couple weeks, so im going to let him settle in for a week or so and try to feed him, this the right idea? But she said he has shed once, and one of his eyes looks very cloudy, i tried to get a good pic but im using my iphone so its not the best that close. The other eye looks fine though, could he maybe be fixing to shed again? Or a bad shed from last time left him like this? None of my BPs have ever had a bad shed around their eyes, but i know this isnt a BP. Or is it maybe something else? ANY help everyone would be great.
Thanks
Tyler

Re: My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
The point on the saddles that you are refering to {} those are called peaks.
Its hard to tell, but from the look of your pics, I think you have a BCI/BCC cross. But then again its difficult to tell.
Re: My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
lol thanks i knew there had to be somethin to call them besides {} just couldnt remember what...a cross? just meaning someone bred a BCI and a BCC and came out with my little buddy? anything good or bad about that?
Would better pics help? i might could get some better ones up in a little bit

Yep, BCI X BCC (but I am not 100% sure that it is a cross)
There is nothing good nor bad about crosses, they just have a tendency to make things confusing at times is all.
Some better pics will definitely help.
Re: My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
He looks more BCC to me

Might just be an ugly Suriname.
I'd see what the guys here

have to say.
Re: My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
Ok well, help me out a little. why did you change your mind? The only way i know to even guess at identifying is the saddles and if they have the "peaks" or not. They told me he was a Central American when i got him, and thats what made me question that.
Re: My First RTB, lookin for a little Help and Opinion
It's not a pure suriname or a central american. I'm 99.9% sure it is a cross between a BCC and a BCI. He does have the facial patterns of a suriname (or guyanan), but not quite...it has more of a colombian shape to it. The saddles are peaked somewhat, but the tail doesn't have the solid white outlines that surinames have...or the underlying connections either.
All in all, very nice pet.
