I just adore glass art, so when I was on vacation in Key West last week, and I encountered this little dude, it was love at first sight and I knew he had to come home with me. He is exquisitely crafted. If anyone is interested to know the artist, I have his bio around here somewhere. The technique involved in shaping this animal out of pyrex is masterful - the eyes are the best examples of the capability of the artist to envision and create (the depth and fine detail is incredible!). The posture and anatomical proportion shows familiarity with the reptiles he's seeking to represent (he also does frogs and lizards) which makes me all the more happy to support his craft - I'm just enthralled to add this snake to my "collection" :)

I don't know that he had a specific species in mind. All of his pieces are kind of ... fantastical.

Scott Bisson is the name of the artist, it turns out. He's not very diversified - looks like he kind of has a very specific niche. While I love what he's doing, I'd like to see more obvious development and direction, but no one's perfect I guess :)

Thats awesome! I make glass art for a living and have been wanting to make a few morphs of balls, but never have the time to. After seeing this, it makes me want to catch up on my work enough to sit down and actually turn my idea into a reality. Awesome find!

want to be my friend??? :D lol

(i've wanted to get in to glass for such a long time - it's probably my favorite medium - it's just really hard to, like you said, sit down and turn my ideas into reality, which at my stage in life would yet require a lot of learning)

Of course, if you do ball pythons, you'll have to let me know what you come up with. As you can see, I'm a willing purchaser of art that i like ;)

Thanks everyone for the compliments on him :) He's definitely cool to have around :D
