    My First Ball Python!
Thanks to a member here (Rapture) I now am a proud owner of a baby Ball Python. Although FedEx took their sweet time getting him here today, he arrived safe and sound. I put him in the tank and he stayed in a ball for about a minute, long enough for me to tell Rapture that I had received him. I went back to check on him and he was drinking water.

I sat watching him for about twenty minutes and he wasn't hesitant at all to start exploring his new habitat. He didn't go in his cool side hide and poked his head into the warm side hide and has since set up shop UP IN A PLASTIC LEAF decoration that is suctioned to the side of the tank. I thought for sure he'd fall, bu the suction seems to be holding his full weight. He's been exploring a bit.

I'm still waiting to see if he goes inside his hide at all. I want to make sure he likes it :P

So I'm pretty sure I've read this already, but I should wait 1 week before handling or feeding, correct?

Pictures to come a little later after he's acclimated.

Yes, he needs the acclimation period before handling or feeding. Congrats, you will make a great herper.

Congrats :D I got my first ball last week. It's truly exciting but patience is the key to having a happy snake. I was getting impatient but in the end I gave him a week and had my first successful feeding yesterday.

    Good luck and enjoy!

Very nice man! They tend to explore around a lot more when they're first getting used to their new home. Make sure that the lid is on there good and tight! Congrats!

Yeah, I'm already so impatient. I've been sitting watching him do nothing. :P

It is. It has two clasps that catch the back of the lid on the edge. I have a little tiny terrarium lock on it too.

That is awesome! Congradulations! Ball Pythons are some of the coolest pet snakes around.
