    software to keep track?
I have some free software that a fellow arachnid keeper made for my tarantulas that keeps track of molts feedings etc. Is there anything like that out there for snakes? Something where I can enter when they eat , shed their skin and so on.

    Cheers

www.iherp.com is a pretty cool website as well, its not a program but you can keep tracking on your animal, from sheds to copulations, so on and so forth.:gj:

It's free for up to 5 or 6 snakes and once you get past that point it's totally worth it to upgrade since it lets you track your feeder inventory, weights, feedings, sheds, copulations, clutch records, pretty much everything.

Yeah Microsoft makes a few. If you are not great with databases you could try Excel and if you are good with database Access or if you are into open source software I like Open Office and mySQL.

But seriously, I think the less complicated the better. I have one 2008 ball and I track her weight, shed dates, feeding dates and food item weights all in a spreadsheet with date, event, data as columns. I think its much better to pick something and start recording data points today than to find the perfect software. You can always move the data to a new program later if you want too. I am a programmer by education and a network manager by profession. Far too often I see simple problems over solved. Start today with a pad of paper if you have too and use whatever you like later. I for one will be posting a new section of my web site for my ball python this weekend with data I collect, pictures and a live web cam.

I don't always take my own advice on over solving problems.

I use Metzcal for tracking everything, it takes a little time to set up each snake but it works great.

    I dunno...the guy can't spell 'functionalities'.
What are the primary differences between Degei and Metzcal?
