Re: Preparing for hurricane
were in south florida where the weather unfortunetly gets much hotter then that even. after a storm generally there is a nice patch of weather that follows the storm. From what my breeder, his partner and other places have told us, the snakes are generally ok inside a home w/o heat & ac. As long as your home doesnt get into the 100s im sure they will be fine until power gets back on... you on the other hand are going to be very hot!!
I hope that storm misses you guys!

Thx, and i was thinking about how warm its going to be here if power goes out and i figured the snakes would be ok.
And I hate to wish a storm on somone else, but after Ivan, Dennis and Katrina I would hate to be hit by another storm...
Re: Preparing for hurricane
at least you dont have to worry on the otherside...
for me if my power goes out in the winter after a while they would freeze to death. i think a little warm is better than too cold.
especially if they have a water dish they can soak in.
Re: Preparing for hurricane
With the warm temps you should be okay. I would be more worried if it happened in the winter. Good luck weathering the storm. :gj:
Re: Preparing for hurricane
Obviously the big concern is for New Orleans. The 3 day path seems to show a direct or indirect hit there. I guess the question will be, did the Army do a good enough job strengthening the levees?
Re: Preparing for hurricane
They're already activating a bunch of Coastie reservists in anticipation of the storm hitting...
Re: Preparing for hurricane
What do the big breeders do in preparation for a storm like this? IE Tim Bailey, Sean Bradley
Re: Preparing for hurricane
I have gotten word from the oil rig metetiorologist that the path is moving south, and for us to get some plywood! Not good at all! It is nice to know someone that is in the "in" as far as that goes!! I am hoping we dont have to evacuate!

Tim gets beer and waits for it to come. lol He actually went back to sleep for a few hours when everyone else was watching the trees that were falling on our property.
For Katrina we just waited and made sure we had gas for our generator. We were out of power for 31 days. The snakes were all fine without power, the rats on the other hand were not so happy. We lost a few here and there because of the heat, but for the most part it wasn't too bad. During the day we had to leave the door open. Then at night we turn the window unit on for a little while to cool the room down for the rats.
