Ultratherms all the way from Reptile Basics! I've got them in my rack and no worries if my Helix craps out I know my animals won't bake! :gj:

Re: The best UTH Brand?
It really depends on the whole picture. Ultratherms are excellent, but if the environment is already on the cool to cold side, they won't work as well as, say, flex watt. Flex watt is excellent and has a proven track record, unless your ambients need bumping up or you have a wooden viv, and then radiant heat panels work really well.
I believe that the whole picture needs to be looked at and then purchases made.

Re: The best UTH Brand?
It depends. Of the ones you listed, ZooMed is best. Just don't use the adhesive. :)
Flexwatt is good working and cheap, but you MUST have a thermostat for it as it can get even hotter than a UTH!
Ultratherm pads from Reptile Basics are great! You should still have a thermostat, but the temps don't get as high so it lessens the danger to the snake(s).

Re: The best UTH Brand?
I used to use ZooMed's but they get to hot for the boa and I don't like the adhesive backing they have. That is what I used to use way-back-when when I had my Burmese though.
Switched to Exo's and have both desert and tropical. Tropical pads (2 large ones) are in Gopher's cage as he likes to bury UNDER the substrate, thus lays directly on the UTH (via the glass of course). The tropical line gets WARM - NOT hot. Perfect for him as he has to have belly heat or he hurls.
Humphrey, the ball on the other hand has one desert pad for him (which is higher heat) as he lays on top of the substrate, thus requiring more heat.
Exo's are a super thin element. Of course asking a question of "which is the best" is always open to subjective criticism!

Re: The best UTH Brand?
I've used Exo's for the most part, but I don't think they get warm enough.. and the adhesive layer is hard to reuse when moving tanks.
Flexwatt is nice though!
