Easter Eggs!

Got home today from my week long vacation to OK to some more crestie eggs today! Hope they're fertile - awfully fun to find them!

Now Robin... no dying these eggs. ;)

How are the other eggs doing?

I actually PM'd Em to ask about them - they seem only slightly wider than the new eggs - are the same length, still pearly white and firm, no dimpling, no molding, no browing - don't know if they are fertile. It will be 60 days on Monday, but Em thinks they may go longer before hatching, assuming they are fertile.

Woohoo! I can't remember exactly how Carmen's eggs grew (been a while and a lot of other eggs since I saw any from her!)--some grow a lot and some don't seem to grow that much before them hatch. Since she is laying I'm guessing she is still retaining sperm although some females will lay a few clutches in the spring when it starts to warm up and they are ready to go again.

Most of the time if the eggs aren't fertile one or both of them will mold or collapse early on. I've had a few instances where one of the two never did mold or look bad on the outside after 70+ days, but I knew from candling them that they were infertile. Get a mini flash light or a pen light and candle those babies! :P

I have a small flashlight, but it's still too big to really be able to see - it seems to engulf them.

Put a piece of tinfoil over the head of your flashlight, poke a small hole in the center of the foil, then put the egg on top of the small hole. That should help redirect that engulfing light.

So my girl is gonna have some more brothers and sisters :banana:

Thanks for the almuninum foil idea. So the older eggs definitely have a red glow to them inside are still slightly pliable when I touch with my finger nail. The newer eggs have more of an orange glow inside of them. I can't say I see veins, but they are so tiny, it's hard to tell. Looks like I see shape inside the older eggs. Tomorrow will be sixty days, but Emily thought they might go longer.
